Ya but the 55" Triluminos 9xx series cost almost 3 times more, worth the price dif? Have not had the chance to compare the difference.

I suggest that if you play retro games a lot, particularly pre-HDMI consoles like NES/SNES/Wii/MegaDrive/Saturn/Dreamcast/PS1/PS2/XBox, check the set completely first. LG TVs are very well known for their lag especially on analog input. Don't trust the salesperson, personally take a console to the shop and test. I made the mistake of trusting the salesperson's word with my LG. Big mistake.

actually no harm getting this model, but theres always better bcoz it has 3d but with a cheaper price, sony has those superb colors but lack of 3d, somemore expensive than lg la6200...

if u test da passive 3d, it is da same with lg la6200/la7400 & sony w804 bcoz lg provide da same ips panel 2 da models... only difference is da features tat comes with models...

whether u choose new tech or sizes, & 3d as well....

for me, most important is 3d bcoz every week i will watch atleast 1 3d movies, my kid also like it...

another thing is size, if i hav budget, i will go for the bigger 1, else just keep the current 1...

anywhere, its just my opinion, others may think different or u may like it as well...

It is very good deal, as SONY Malaysia is selling 47W804A at RM3,999 which is same price as 50W800B. But 55W804A at RM5,499

for my opinion, they might use back the same panel, upgrade the contrast & brightness, upgrade with webOS but with locked features so tat only currently version 2014 will hav such features but not the previous 1... compare the price shown on the foreign countries websites the price isnt tat big difference, so i assume they just add something different tats all but not fully change...

i dont think so, bcoz once upgradeable, whose gonna change new tv then? even samsung e8000 series evolution kit can b upgradeable like f8000, but then main hardware still fix, it only upgrade partial firmware just to make it slightly different but not totally changed...

should I get the 954A or wait a lil bit for the 55" 850B to come into our market?

To be quite frank with you, Triluminous doesn't mean anything. In reality, Sony does try and handpick the best produced AUO panels for their flagship TVs (in this case, the W954a). They would then calibrate the sets so that it would look better than other AUO panel used in their other lines (W6 and W7) out of the box. Majority of users do not have calibration tools or even the knowledge to go around it, so yeah basically Triluminos makes the W9 look better than the other lines through properly picked panels and calibration, not because Triluminous is some magic LCD panel that does wonders.

That being said, the W9 would obviously look better even after post-calibration in comparison to the W6/W7 due to generally better panel uniformity and better motion handling. It's still the best all-around 1080p LCD TV from 2013 though.

So yeah, don't always get suckered up into Sony's marketing.

I asked for full refund as they quoted other replacements at higher price (including LA8600 at $5.6k), but later they revised it down to RM5k after I told them I can get better deal elsewhere for LA8600, and would ask for full refund if they can't match the offer. They got back to me few days later and said they'd match the deal. So why not? Besides Yesmember, I didn't know anywhere else selling that model at such low price, and few shops that I went told me W804A already out of stock as well. Though after I read about Courts selling W804A at RM3999 today, instant regret
