QUOTE(chaosneo @ Apr 12 2014, 10:16 AM) very interested in Sony 55" W804A model, i wish to ask if its possible to do this with this TV set: Asuming your speakers has optical input, then yes.laptop/pc >----HDMI----> W804A (TV) >---- Audio Digital Output----> 5.1 Surround Speakers. assuming the source is a 5.1 audio file or 5.1 audio movie file, do i still get to output 5.1 audio to a 5.1 surround speakers? However, do understand that the W804 only passthrough Dolby Digital and not DTS. The majority of movies are encoded in DTS, so using the pass-through from the optical out the W804 would mean for the audio to be downmixed into LPCM 2.0 (stereo). There is a trick of course, where you can use LAV Audio and Reclock to encode a DTS file into AC3 Dolby Digital before transporting the signal through HDMI. Your speakers also need to decode Dolby Digital in order for surround to work. QUOTE(chaosneo @ Apr 14 2014, 03:08 PM) 12. the brightness becomes quite dimm/dark after i set the motion to "clear / clear plus / impulse" which i have to brighten & enhance it up with other colors. which at many times not enough to compensate the loss of brightness. i am still trying to work around this and hopefully the update software would make this a lot better. this is also considering that i has set backlight to MAX. i haven't got time to use it for long and chance update the software for it yet but maybe there will be more improvements after the update. [/color] 12) No amount of firmware/software updates will fix the dark screen issue. Reason is simple, because "clear/clear plus/ impulse" is basically a mode that interpolates the screen achieve a higher refresh rate. It is how it is, nothing will fix this and it is the same on all other TVs. |

QUOTE(chaosneo @ Apr 15 2014, 09:19 AM) Bro Ben, Dolby Digital is 5.1.thank you for the clarification, please forgive me if i did ask any dumb question as i am pretty new to the AV stuff and was reading around about codecs and stuff... for a newbie like me, its pretty really appreciate your help. now i am learning to trying to reconfigure the MPC (Media Player Classic) to have audio output through the HDMI as Dolby Digital 5.1 or AC3 5.1 to fully enjoy the surround experience. i am planning to get the Logitech Z906 in the future. i notice i have a lot of video files that are in AAC 5.1 format as i go through their audio properties. this link seems to teach "How to config ffdshow/LAV and reclock for HD audio" http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=152520http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=152520 Bro Ben, when you said this TV pass through Dolby Digital to the optical output, does this also include Dolby Digital 5.1? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- on another note about the Sony W804A, playing files from laptop or through USB drive, the colors / motion / sharpness is very very nice. Check up on Dolby's site to see all their technologies - http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/techno...er/listing.html Just don't be suckered into their marketing of course. Also, why would you want to spend money on such poor quality speakers? Spending RM1.2k on the Z906? Kind of a waste. For a little more (RM1.7k or so) you could get a much better entry level Yamaha NS-P40 with an entry level Yamaha V375. You'd have much better expandability in the future. Even the Denon DHT-1312XP is a better buy than the Z906, despite being old http://www.lazada.com.my/denon-dht-1312xp-...atre-58487.html This post has been edited by SSJBen: Apr 15 2014, 04:12 PM |

QUOTE(aviecena2020 @ Apr 16 2014, 09:41 PM) Because plenty complained about last year's W804 having shitty black levels and poor color vibrance, which actually looked worse than the much cheaper W674.Sony switched the W8 series to AUO VA panels this year and thus active 3D instead of passive 3D that was possible with the LG IPS panel on the W804. |

QUOTE(travis8481 @ Apr 20 2014, 10:56 AM) So can I say tat is better to get d newest W8XXB rather than W804A? Thinking to get 50W800B For me personally, yes. I hated how poor the blacks were on the W804. Though the IPS panel on the W804 is a necessity for the viewing angles if your room is setup with sofas beyond the 60 degree viewing angle limit of a VA panel. You can certainly still watch, but colors will shift beyond 60 degrees (some VA panels are even worse) eventhough specs state that they have an angle limit of up to 178 degrees.Oic. R is d facelift model. I only saw 60R550A demo at KLCC sony n d picture is so nice but d price rm5999 So, see how your room is setup to be like. Though if you were to go for an IPS panel, I'd suggest you go back to LG instead. |

QUOTE(local_machine @ May 2 2014, 10:00 AM) To be quite frank with you, Triluminous doesn't mean anything. In reality, Sony does try and handpick the best produced AUO panels for their flagship TVs (in this case, the W954a). They would then calibrate the sets so that it would look better than other AUO panel used in their other lines (W6 and W7) out of the box. Majority of users do not have calibration tools or even the knowledge to go around it, so yeah basically Triluminos makes the W9 look better than the other lines through properly picked panels and calibration, not because Triluminous is some magic LCD panel that does wonders. That being said, the W9 would obviously look better even after post-calibration in comparison to the W6/W7 due to generally better panel uniformity and better motion handling. It's still the best all-around 1080p LCD TV from 2013 though. So yeah, don't always get suckered up into Sony's marketing. |

So yeah, set your connection up properly first be it through your TV or router.I just bought a 48in Sony Bravia Model:KDL-48W600B. Any one can help ?? Crow |

QUOTE(pillage2001 @ May 26 2014, 03:53 PM) Choose whichever you like. A DNS is simply just a DNS, doesn't matter who your ISP is.QUOTE(crow190569 @ May 27 2014, 09:53 AM) Ok guys thanks for comments will try when i return from overseas. Unfortunately, free DNS are often useless, unstable and are easily blocked by Netflix/Hulu+/any other paid streaming service. So yeah, pay a little bit and forget about the hassle. All the suggested DNS services are paid sites except for the last one (proxydns) which i tried already but does not work however I will try again. Some step by step guidance on a free service provider will be nice Crow ProxyDNS is the cheapest and it has worked for me. I'm currently using SimpleTV. |

QUOTE(pillage2001 @ May 27 2014, 02:53 PM) The DNS can be set on the TV and that is all it takes right? And also, netflix and hulu and all would automatically be downloaded once the TV detects that I am in 'US' ? Nothing else needed? Yes.You don't have to download the apps, it's actually already there in the TV. Just locked out of view and usage if you aren't "in" the US. All the DNS service that I've listed has free trials, so try them out and see which works best for you (by right in theory, there shouldn't be a difference). |
