A quick check with DSLR owners. I want to buy my first DSLR, and went to Pertama Complex today. Wanted to buy Nikon D7100 kit. First went to a camera shop near the entrance (forgot the shop name but I think it was time gallery or something), offered me RM3.8K. Went to Photo Selangor RM 4.6K. A difference of RM800!! Confirm with the guy in the first shop that Warranty Nikon (M), but I did not get it as the guy said only got body, with no lens kit so I did not see the warranty card yet (whether yellow or not). So told him next tuesday come again. Now, I'm a bit unsure . How come he can offer so much lower price compared to others? Have any one buy from this shop? Need advice before this tuesday

Well... body only as the seller said. He offered you Nikon D7100 body ONLY, not D7100 kit. I expect Photo Selangor to offer you the D7100 body with 18-105 kit(i not sure about nikon prices, but should be it).

With the 3.8k, you need to purchase another lens by yourself; with the 4.6, you get body and lens.

Sorry about that. I think I might have miss out some info. He said 3.8K with lens as well, other free gift 8GB SD, bag and tripod.. lens given is 18-105 as I asked for D7100 kits complete with lens. I did not get it because the guy said currently he only have stock for the body, not with lens.

You can buy, if you go with someone experienced. Lots of things to check to ensure that the camera is new and not used. Small small details can give you big big clues. Since you said it's your first DSLR, Id suggest not. Maybe the 4.6 is on the high side. Try some other reputable shops that offers good pricing. And one thing I wanna mention here, is that you're a wise man. Not an impulsive buyer like I am. If its my first DSLR, offered at RM800 less, definitely take already. Salute you bro.

Frankly speaking, I was almost an impulsive buyer. Not sure if its luck by my side or something else, it seems the item got out of stock. And at the same time, the guy try to convince me to buy d3200 kit with lens and a sapphire nano lens for about RM3.3k. Price check on sapphire nano lens about RM2.3k. After walk away, somehow it hit me to find it weird. How come you able to sell something way below market price? Even with the d3200 with sapphire nano lens at about RM2.3k, you selling the camera at RM1k? Something not right..

Nikon kit is selling at that price. 18-105mm kit set.. if he is offering you at 3.8k, probably is a body..

The "sapphire nano lens" you mentioned, is the one below?

The "Sapphire Co. by German" doesn't even exist.

It's not really a photography lens, it's only a wide angle converter which doesn't really cost you more than RM200. Google-ed it and didn't find anything else, so it doesn't seem to be legit. Be aware of the shop, it sounds suspicious. This is how most Malaysia shops trying to sell you overpriced accessories, but this RM2.3k price tag is just ridiculous.

Yup, i have been google'd arnd before went there, with kit set, at least RM4.6K sound reasonable. I did ask few friends, some are suggesting to check the item properly as well as the warranty. It sounds too good to be true. Probably, I will invite a friend to come with me, to check out the item.


That's the thing. By putting it on the front of kit lens, for the price of RM2.3k, its a bit ridiculous . Might as well get a good Nikkor lens.

better check warranty for the nikon model you are about to get.
If you are interested, you can pm.. my shop sells one and warranty is direct from nikon.

Wide angle converters are a piece of crap. RM150 and below can consider. Other than that dont waste time.
