QUOTE(samosaurus @ Sep 13 2013, 03:32 PM) SR Suntour manufactures components as well aside from suspension forks and dampers. One apparent upgrade is their "soap bar" folding pedals on the Terns because many of the Wellgo pedals actually broke.. yikes, wouldn't dare to imagine having a broken pedal when i'm at balik pulau or smthg The broken Wellgo pedals.. So, that said, its no surprise why the Suntour RDs are so frail. Some riders broke their RDs on the Dahon Visc 18 and Dash P18. This prompted a recall and a replacement.. Ah, this one is a "touchy-feely" subject.. The Tech guy still behaves like a Bicycle God even though his background is merely a cycling enthusiast. What is shocking is the fact that he actually meddles with other people's bikes and charges a fee.. The boss of the shop is not bad, she is now well-known among the folding bike circle. Even the media has hailed her as a darling among the cycling community.. Sam QUOTE(earl-ku @ Sep 13 2013, 11:33 PM) awesome! btw perhaps u could edit the thread description a little..add something like 'etc, all bikes r welcome!' QUOTE(Robyn @ Sep 14 2013, 12:01 AM) bro, i have created a FB page, probably u may add this as well so that we can share our activities photo easily over there is that you going to ipoh bikepacking?? damnnnnhttps://www.facebook.com/lowyat.folding.bike this topic is getting more and more interesting |

LOL https://www.facebook.com/lowyat.folding.bike this topic is getting more and more interesting FB have killed many forums... since most ppl wan easy... lazy ..... forum can be very organised if done properly... the 1st page there apart from guide for starters... many ppl like to ask about which bike which bike...recommend... if members here can do some review n post close up detail shots of the bike parts like folding hinge etc... that will be useful as well.... it all depends on the TS now... Project completed! My frame arrived last week and I started building up the bike. Added a headset first, It didn't even come with headset and the V-brake stubs are also not given!
![]() Alivio 8 speed shifters (better shifting than twisters) with metal brake levers from Dahon Eco C7. ![]() Kinetix V-brake set. More solid braking than many other brands. Taken from Speed 8. Brake cable and housing changed to new! ![]() Slightly heavier handle post but very strong. No movement at all from it. ![]() The folding clamp! My only grouse is plastic. Other than that ir grips strong. Should have made it metal. ![]() I put in a Tiagra RD together with the 8 speed cog. A spare unit after taking out from my wife's Boardwalk as the cage is too short for triple chainring. Expensive when buying but no point leaving it around. ![]() Bike in folded state. Suprisingly quite light. Lighter than a Dahon Eco C7! ![]() This post has been edited by etigge: Sep 14 2013, 03:19 PM |

QUOTE(etigge @ Sep 14 2013, 03:17 PM) looks good! how much r u letting it go for?btw thx for the number, though i'm 90% sure i can't make it anyway, i have some old parts lying around which i plan to fix on my boardwalk d7 a triple chain crankset, the fd, as well the shimano 8 speed shifter/brake level combo they're all cheap components from an old cheap "mtb", do u think i can just transfer em over to my boardwalk? not planning to spend a single cent other than a fd adaptor, IF it's feasible laa can 8 speed shifter work with 7 speed freewheel? QUOTE(2kia @ Sep 14 2013, 04:29 PM) looks good! how much r u letting it go for? Letting go for RM850. MTB cranks will be 44T max! Will that be enough for flats? I mean it can be used but the lesser number of cogs will not be able to move you fast unless you don't mind being slow. On the plus side though, it will be easy going uphill. Air Itam Dam will not be a problem as the your low gears are more than enough. Go get a 8 speed freewheel, works better. It can be used but shifting will not be accurate at certain stages. I hear the bike shop beside the Bayan Lepas police station still has Shimano Megarange freewheel and I heard it's cheap too. btw thx for the number, though i'm 90% sure i can't make it anyway, i have some old parts lying around which i plan to fix on my boardwalk d7 a triple chain crankset, the fd, as well the shimano 8 speed shifter/brake level combo they're all cheap components from an old cheap "mtb", do u think i can just transfer em over to my boardwalk? not planning to spend a single cent other than a fd adaptor, IF it's feasible laa can 8 speed shifter work with 7 speed freewheel? |

Guys, ive been surveying numbers of folding bike since my friend jokingly said that I should get a folding bike since Im going to travel Shah Alam - Kelantan every now and then. When I take a look, suddenly Im really interested with getting a folding bike for real :3
Im looking on something with budget below RM700, going to use it for going back and forth my class in Uni. So I guess a budget reliable one should be enough. Please recommend me which model/brand/shop that i can buy off that could provide delivery to Kelantan, thanks! |

When I take a look, suddenly Im really interested with getting a folding bike for real :3 Something below RM700 is a bit tough unless it's a second hand one. With that budget, you can get Trinx or XDS 7 speed. You won't get an 8 speed for less than RM700. You can get an Aloeca or Oscar Imagine but don't expect much from it. I suggest you try to find a second hand unit. A good second hand one is better than a lousy new one. Know my meaning?
