i got mine for RM950. Survey around and you should be able to get something between RM850 up to RM1,050 depending on area and your nego skills laugh.gif

When i said area, i mean KL vs Ipoh as an example.

Hi All,

I am new here but I have followed this forum for about 2 months.

Recently I bought 2 TRINX (exactly like the photos) at the interval of 2 weeks for my kids. I got it from a bike shop in Makhota Cheras, first one at RM750 and the second one at RM770 as the owner told me that the price increased for the newer batch.

I have not ride for more than 20 years, these bikes are meant for my kids, they ride it once a week and I plan to bring them to Putrajaya this wekend. I tested the bike and I feel like quite okay. Comparing to the road bike I had in the past, I would say that this bike somehow rather doesn't feel very solid. Though I know it is not fair to compare to the road bike.

Before I purchased, I did some survey and I feel like this TRIX is quite good value for money.

A silly question : Where & how you ride your folding?

I've been cycling on-and-off with full size bike.  I just have my first folding bike ride covering 20++ km on motor bike lane (16").  At the pit stop, I notice most of the guys have road bike crank installed, > 50 tooth.  The casual conversation is centred on "how fast".  On the ride, I tried follow those fast bikers but simply could not keep up ( my ave speed was 22km/h recorded by GPS), instead what I achieved is a faster credence vs riding full size bike.  Thus, I arrived this premature conclusion: Folding is most suitable for urban 'jalan-jalan' and 'cari makan' purpose, or as a short distance commuter.  For touring and speed, there are far better option available.  I don't want the fellow riders to tembak me because of this.  So would really like to know HOW and WHERE to you ride your folding.  Keep up the ride

ride to town with friends to jalan2 cari makan indeed, n also ride to play football during the weekends cuz i find it hard to give up one over the other biggrin.gif

QUOTE(etigge @ Sep 12 2013, 12:19 PM)
I can't say for other riders but I can tell you my side of the reason why I ride a foldie. Me and wife and also on some occasion, my daughter were very avid mountain bikers. Pit stop for a few years because of financial worries, and then sold off all bikes. Fast forward, thinking of riding again. Then to get 3 mtb of the same quality as I had before is a huge investment. So, we thought of just getting a folding bike to quench our thirst for bicycling again. We got the first and rode around the house and then after the second one, me and wife started riding in Putrajaya and then joining others for rides. I am actually quite technical in bikes so I started tinkering with the foldies and got hooked onto it.

I never now thought about mountain bikes anymore, just folding bikes! nod.gif  And since Sam inrtoduced us to some light off roading ( I mean we can't be doing technical trail riding at our age anyway), it just enforces the obsolete need for mountain bikes. As regards to where we ride, how do we explain? I ride in Putrajaya cycling lanes, I ride from Karak to Kuala Gandah, I ride from Sekinchan to Sungai Besar, I also made KKB to Fraser's Hill top 2 times, do the loops in Hulu Langat etc etc. We ride wherever we want. And that I would say, I am having maximum fun! rclxms.gif  Even more fun because, I have a gang of riders who don't make speed a priority, we wait for each other, we don't mind going home late and we eat like hogs after every ride.

Getting together and ride and have meals together, sometimes staying at a resort, that's the idea of fun and the bike is just a medium to get us together!  nod.gif Also work out and be healthy at the same time.

It all depends on your self, not with what others think. If you just want to workout, a machine in front of a large LCD TV will suffice. If you want to enjoy life like me and Sam do, ride with us. If you want to be competitive like those you are riding with, always talking about speed, then get a higher spec-ed and lighter bike and more expensive bikes and take lots of photos and record the distance and time taken to ride.

u know, i was really keen on getting a mtb but as per the mtb thread, for rm2000 n less just choose the bike colour u like, components etc r not up to par for real mtbiking etc yada yada yada so i figure i'd save the money n get a foldie instead n see if i even like cycling.. n guess what, i nvr check out mtb again after that!

glad i got my foldie instead of mtb, imagine a mtb with mudguard n all the accessories that would make it look..sissy? tongue.gif

I actually prefer right rides which is why I am looking for a bicycle headlamp and not a torch. But I do day rides too. My concern of getting a headlamp is that: how much will the difference be if I were to get one with 200 lumens vs those 1200 lumens? I know the power output is different hence the difference of lumens. But does the lumens affect the range throw of the lights? I mean, it would be good to get one with wide spill as well as a longer range.

I had my eyes on Knog Blinder Road 2, just that the price is quite high, and the running time is pretty low for a headlamp. My budget for this *fingers crossed* will hopefully within a RM100 range, which after looking at various posts on TB, ebay, etc, is very much unlikely as those products are all over RM100.

Hah, now this forum is getting to be very hot... more and more foldables are being bought. Pretty soon, we will be able to see more and more foldies riding in the city, parks, gardens, ... going to work... going to the shops...

Once you get your new bike, be sure to ride slow in the beginning, learn its various functions, change gears, learn the balancing part during stopping the bike and during cornering.

And if you ride at night, Lights are very, very important! Don't ride unless you have a rear light. The front lights can be a small torch light tied down to handlebars.. But the rear light should be red and this will be your life saver.

I finally bought a knog blinders rear... but expensive nya... yup, I can go night riding with a clearer mind now! The battery life is great!! rclxms.gif

user posted image

I did buy the knog blinders front much earlier, but like you said, the battery life is a little short. doh.gif

but the saving point is that it is bright enough for really dark roads..

hi bro,

how is ur trinx??
any comments or reviews?
the joints clamped solid?
any noise? etc complains?

looking at the price, style, spec i think this bike is worth
considering for those who have less than 1K to spend..
( haven't seen the real bike yet  biggrin.gif )

at RM 1199 - USJ price
RM 899 - others price  drool.gif

if the built quality is good, and u r not a heavyweight..
dun like to abuse the bike... not intend to clock thousands KMs a month.
Here is some of my comments. This is my first foldie and my experience may be differ from others and

- everything seem solid. a good ride
- it bouncy. i think the tyre is too slim and my weight (80kg) i feel it through my spine. my rim is little bend already
- the chain is noisy only when the back gear is on the end (either far left or far right). when in the middle, it didn't sound a bit.
- the handlebar is mis-align with the front tyre.
- seat post is loose.
- it seem the paddle also loose. i might too heavy for the paddle also.

everything seem fine.

u need to align back the chain at the High n Low setting.
Simplified version is, prop up the bike so u can turn the crank with ur hand and spin the rear wheel.
on the RD, there are 2 screws labelled H L.
Shift to the smallest sprocket, adjust the H screw left or right slowly while turning the crank
when the chain is aligned, there will be no sound.
Shift to the largest sprocket and repeat with L screw.

- the handlebar is mis-align with the front tyre.
adjust back.

- seat post is loose.
tighten.

- it seem the paddle also loose. i might too heavy for the paddle also.
cant be tighten?

everything seem fine.
great!

This evening a riding kaki brought her Tern Link D8 for me to tune the rear derailleurs as the chain was skipping between cogs. When the bike was here, I was suprised! shocking.gif First the gear cables was frayed and the cable stub was just a mere inch left! shocking.gif She said she never touch any adjustments. It's really shocking to see that a main dealer having their posh outlet in Sea Park can sell the bike without proper adjustments. They sell straight out of the box. The first ride she had after getting the bike, the mudguards fell off! I was a witness to that. Until today, there was more shock to come. The rear derailleur was not a Neos but a Suntour which was shaped similarly. This plasticky rear derailleur is really lousy! I am not sure if this was the standard RD for the Tern Link D8. Suntour maybe good in suspension forks but they still need a lot of improvements on their RDs.

Luckily I still have the original Neos 8 speed from my Boardwalk. She switched to the Neos. Those intending to buy Terns, especially the Link D8, check the RD.
