QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 12 2014, 08:49 AM) You didn't mention whether yours is a 6/7 or 8 speed! Usually freewheel cogs are 7 speed and below. There are 8 speeds sets though but hard to come by. I have used one before. An X- friend of mine still have a 7 speed which starts from 11T. I don't know if he still wants to sell it. Maybe you can message him in FB under Clement KokLupp Chan. Don't mention me though. Most starts from 13/14T to 28T. Anything 8 speed and above uses a different cassette hub already. Sorry! You are right, it is 7 speed. If it is an ex-friend......... don't wan to contact lah....... If you can think of where I can get one, please let me know. Aliexpress has one and the brand is DNP Epoch. Looks cheap but if that is all I can get, then no choice..... Thanks again. If anyone reading this has one to sell, please let me know! thanks.

QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 12 2014, 08:56 AM) For the first time, honestly! I say the Raleigh is a much more solid looking foldie. If you want a better comparison, go to Kimbell Jaya. They now have both of it in stock. Ask Jimmy to bring out both bikes and compare it side by side. The Dahon is RM800 while the Raleigh UGo is RM750. Although Dahon Vybe C7S ( NOT C7A which is an aluminium frame) is RM50 priced higher, the components on the Raleigh is better. In fact the colour is even better but you know lah, a reknown brand compared to another not so popular brand. It's up to you. Both have their pros and cons. ride wise, the Dahon C7S is better due to the steel frame but it's heavier and in future moddings, it is easier on the Dahon which has more superior parts that can be found in the market. Clamp wise (the folding part) it is still Dahon. Personally, I actually prefer Raleigh's design compared to the Dahon, what I'm more concerned about is actually their durabiity. Seems like I'll be going with the Raleigh after all, I just hope it is able to endure the torture from my weight. BTW, I noticed that there are actually several folding bikes that's even cheaper, things like: http://www.bicyclebuysell.com/item/218442/imagine-foldieshttp://www.bicyclebuysell.com/item/187970/...b-free-deliveryhttp://www.bicyclebuysell.com/item/229529/...oldingbike-2014What is the usual catch with these bikes? durability? safety? or what?

QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 12 2014, 12:21 PM) Kimbell Jaya do open Sundays but close on one Sunday a month. Opens half day though. Call Jimmy first (012-2927636) He just received a Dahon Vigor and 2 Tern C7s and a few Dahon Vybes. Also there are other foldies there. If you visit Saturdays, he's open for sure, from 11.30am onwards. Go ahead, just tell you ride with Wong and I am sure there's a good price. Thanks! What do u think of the Vigor? Is it worth the price diff with a Link D8? May not mind splurging a bit if it means I wont have the urge to upgrade the parts. Well, probably just change to a dual front chainring if anything

Brand new or used? If used, rm1.6k i would rather buy brand new. Check if it is pre-2012 model or post-2012 model. Newer model has sealed bearing hub and also heightt adjustable handlebars

I bought raleigh after listening to etigge's advise earlier. Yes no doubt this foldie is robust and seems tough. My only complaint is that with only 7 speed i ran out of gears pretty fast. On hill climb, the largest gear still need hard pedalling while on downhill, the highest gear also cannot sync the pedalling. Lol. Now only training my legs. Once my stamina is ok i might with upgrade the gearings or change bike.

I actually don't know much about the gears, but I thought high number of gears is only useful if the rider is trying to get the optimal pedaling resistance? Does it mean even at the lowest gear it still is though to climb most hill?

May not mind splurging a bit if it means I wont have the urge to upgrade the parts. Well, probably just change to a dual front chainring if anything The Vigor is more worthy! Firstly it's a 9 speed, secondly, it has double walled rim with better hubs, thirdly the components are better, slightly lah! The rims itself is a worthy upgrade already. Tern D8 uses cassette but single walled rim also the crank cannot accommodate another extra chain ring. The Vigor's, in future you just need an extra smaller chainring (RM80), a pair of shifters, FD ,cables to upgrade to double chain ring. Also the Vigor is much lighter. You really need to change Vigor's shifters though. They are louyah!
