It's my wife's velo. Actually, it's hard to choose because choices in Klang Valley is limited to the few Javas, Mossos and the Dahon Dash. I would have choosen Dahon Dash but I don't like disc brake and the latest ones with orange rims is really gaudy! rclxub.gif I wouldn't mind the old Dash or the Hammerhead though. So, Dahon is out and for Java, the rear triangle is not my type. I know there's a mini velo shop in Penang and I have ridden with a few riders in Penang and most of them use Performer from Taiwan.

Actually there's a few higher spec-ed units but me I like to choose my own components, hence the used set of Ultegra. I just changed the cassette and chain to new ones. Basically, I am just buying the frame. Bannard is exquisite but expensive! Tyrell is even more expensive and me, I value more on components and an good cheap frame works just fine for me.

I could have slap the groupset to the Marin Ravenna roadbike that I have hanging on my wall but my wife prefers smaller wheels. There are a few more brands that I see in that shop. Here's the link

Etigge, that looks really good. How much will it cost to replicate this bike? It is only available in Penang?
Id be happy with just 105s to keep cost down.

I bought the last one but there is another one (purple color unit) but it's been reserved. Maybe you can call Thomas (010 8484006) to check if the buyer came for it or not? There are other brands as well, good ones, like Progressive but cost slightly more.

You need the 105 groupset off course. It hovers around RM1650 which comes with the newer styled shifters and 2 X 10 speed. Then the drop bar and tape. New cables and housing ( should be around RM300 ) and the cost of the bike. You can still sell the existing groupset to offset some cost out. Probably about RM500!

hi guys.

my first post in this thread (hopefully first of many!)

anyway, have been interested in getting a bike, but was put off as I stay in a condo with not much storage space...

but that was until i found out more about folding bikes, and how they can be just (or almost) as good as normal MTB and road bikes!

my main aims with getting a bike would be for visits to the gym/7-eleven (about 5km return), or riding around the park with my kids.. my condo is on top of a steep hill, so i guess i would be better off with a bike with more gears?

also, intend on getting a baby seat for my son to join me (< 2 yrs old).. anyone here have experience with baby seats on their foldies?

i stay in segambut dalam/mont kiara area.. so any good nearby bike shops? i know there's the rodalink in hartamas... but i dont mind driving a bit as long as the shop is well-stocked and has good advice/service.. reading here a lot go to MBS in bandar utama.. so i might give that a try...

thanks for the advice. would the removable rack be strong enough to carry weight of carrier + child? how heavy is your son? my son's about 15kg last time i checked. this would be a preferred option though as i only have to attach it for the times i need it

Hi, I m new on folding bike, bought 2 foldies last month, myself and my GF. At the moment we only ride it outside my office area after work, which quite short distance. Now they are having some contruction work, so I can't do it there anymore.

We plan to do it other places, but have no clue at all where is the good place or suitable place in KL area..... Since we are only 2 person, I hope not much traffic and safer. Park? Residence area? Or any forum which I can get more information? Really appreciate if anyone can give me some suggestion.

My house is near kuchai lama, is bukit jalil park allow for us to ride inside?

Thanks.

at that time my 4yrs old was about 15kg, this rack was said to be able to hold up to 20kg if not mistaken... i do try it myself by attaching it to the mtb (like the old day whereby you sit on the back carrier and cycle) and it survived (me=90kg++++)...

Putrajaya is a good place to ride. Free from traffic and even if you ride on the road, motorist are more tolerable to cyclist there.

hi LYN folding cyclist/biker smile.gif

I'm planning to get 1 for myself.
I'm more into the big frame type. Plan to use is offroad, but maybe onroad(normal road) once in a while as well.
I'm 185cm tall, 89KG, and targeting 20" folding bike at the momment.

I've visited Vans Urban Bicycle and Folding Bike Malaysia(Damansara Perdana) earlier today, and the result:

Vans Urban Bicycle:
- Unfortunately they dont have any MTB at the momment. So i just tried out the road bike that they have in stock:
- Montague Crosstown(retail around +- RM2.6k) & Montague Navigator(retail around +- RM3.8k)
- Love the simplicity.

Folding Bike Malaysia(Damansara Perdana)
- No MTB folding bike at all.

Then I called Singapore Montague outlet, DigiNEXX and they have Paratrooper Pro in stock, with retail price of +- SGD 1.5K:
user posted image
- Bike details : http://www.montaguebikes.com/paratrooper-p...lding-bike.html

Anyone using this model at the momment?
Is it reliable on offroad mode?
The price is not much different than malaysia retail price after conversion.

Or do you have any other recommendations(for 20" folding bike) that i can go thru before deciding which brand to use?

Thanks guys, hopefully can join your group activity/ride soon! smile.gif

Actually Bukit Jalil don't allow biking as I saw the sign board there. But they still have some ppl riding bicycle. For your area, you can check the facebook : foldies & me . I joined one time Kesas highway on Thursday night ride before CNY.
