From your username, I can only assume you are a female. I think for that budget, the BEST is the Dahon Boardwalk D8. It's priced around RM1399 for the 8 speed but if you hunt around in places like Kimbell Jaya in Bdr. Tun Hussein Onn or Sew Leong in Dengkil. you can get one at RM1100, maybe less!

Storied in my first paragraph, i was slow  sweat.gif

Late half hour? As in the corp challenge session? I was late for the community ride. As i came down from the train at 8.45am and rode towards dataran, the first wave already jalan and i joined 2nd wave punya rear end.

What do u mean by ghost ride? Mean join in the ride without paying lah? If like that then i think i saw a few ghost riders today. Tarak bib numbers, just jerseys. Anyway the guy who sold me the zeray pedal joined the corp challenge and he told me that he and his bunch would usually find a mamak somewhere drink tea makan breakfast and when time is almost up, only pedal back for the finishing. True enough when i was passing dang wangi, plenty of cyclists in one mamak shop there lol.

Ghost riders is always the better way if you are not into ride memorabilia. Saves money also. Imagine the thousands of riders and imagine the money passing through, sponsors, fees, jerseys kick back etc etc. That's why I am not really into jamborees and community rides. To me, this kind of rides is " to be seen " kind of ride. That's just me. Doesn't matter as long as you enjoyed the ride. I have many friends who did the Penang CFAL round island ride and while many were rushing and racing to be in the first pack, they forgot to enjoy, while my friends just cycle around, stopping for pictures here and there. They even stopped in Sungai Pinang to enjoy 'assam laksa' and finish the ride a little over 4 hours. The average of the rest is about 3 hours plus. I think my friends burned their calories and also enjoyed to the fullest while many felt miserable with wounds after crashing after Titi Kerawang. It's was raining on the ride day.

Lesson here is , " Just Enjoy The Ride ", be your own master. thumbup.gif

No worries. The seat post of a folding bike is long and it can take 105kg. If you are nearby Cheras, then go Kimbell Jaya opposite the Petron station in Jalan Bdr. Tun Hussein Onn.

well, i am still new in cycling. (cycling during my school years doesnt count) so OCBC's was my first ride event. let it sink in for a while before i find what my real cycling interests are. heck i dont even know if this will be a long time thing or not sweat.gif

just like my motorcycling hobby, when i first picked up big biking, i always loved to join in big rides, big convoys and big events. now fast forward a few years later i found that all these are not my interest and i ride mostly alone or with only a few close friends, sometimes a weekend hooligan and sometimes a foodie. laugh.gif

memorabilia, yeah i really dont know what i want to do with that medal thing. keep, it becomes another rubbish in the house. throw, is like wasting resources and adding up to the dumpster. at least i can wear the t-shirt though. hahah

Many others actually. The Dahon Vybe is within reach and so is the Tern Link C7. If you are looking for better climbing ability with the same budget, maybe a Java Fit 16 speed but the wheel base is short so, the bike is fast but not stable. I don't usually recommend cheaper bikes as their frames don't last and it gets quite irritating to ride a bike that squeks and creaks. That's why frame quality is important. Component wise, you can later upgrade it. If you drive to Rodalink opposite the Aeon Jusco in Bandar Botanic, Klang, you should be able to see one that you like. Most probably see one that is over your budget, hahaha. tongue.gif

Another good bike to buy is KHS. The range starts from 1.3K for an 8 speed but for that I rather go for the Boardwalk but who knows, you might like the design. There's another way to go though. Raleigh makes strong frames but their marketing strategy is to sell it cheap so their component is lower grade and it's only 7 speed. It's selling for RM750 but if you add in another RM600 to upgrade to 10 speed, it's enough for some hill rides. But I think you should go around and just check out the bikes first, pin point the models that you like and then ask for opinions here. icon_rolleyes.gif

PS/ Actually there are many riders who gives up after a while and they sell their bikes after getting bored with riding. Check out the site. For this I advise to stick to Dahons, Terns and KHS.

KHS is good bike as I riding it almost everyday for 4 month. But 8 speed is not enough if you go uphill. You only can climb up slowly and you need strong legs for that. thumbup.gif

A set of SRAM X5 shifters, X5 cassette (11T/36T super big), X5 RD and 1031 chain , I can get for RM550 here nearby my place. For RM50 I install it for you. Done! I know the long cage RD can be used because Vector P20 uses the same and my Vigor is also modded withe the same. Maybe, your rear hubs needs to be changed and I have the exact suitable one, for that minimal RM60. But before that, you can try out my Vigor using the 10 speed and see if there's a difference. icon_rolleyes.gif
