Hey guy, I need some help on free anti virus, firewall, anti-spyware software for pc. Can anyone please give me some suggestion? For anti-virus: I am using Microsoft Security Essentials.

PS: I am too busy on this week because need to arrange a lot of thing before I enter my degree and my new pc will be arrived next week. I have no time to go through all post on Software Section. So if you guy can help me out, I would really appreciated it. Thank you.

Is firewall software and anti-spyware software is a MUST for pc? Or can I just use anti-virus+ window firewall?

My pc dont even have antivirus lol.

Mcafee is not bad

The former is a must while the latter is optional. However, spywares can still sneak into PCs from surfing website so its best to have both of them.

IMHO, Avast! antivirus, ZoneAlarm firewall and SUPER Antispyware Free are the best combo.

I personally just use the windows defender.

Antivirus provided by windows 8.

I use Avast! Internet Security + Malwarebytes + HiJackThis
expensive but worthed.
Malwarebytes can sometimes be annoying as it will block any
malicious potential website to be access.
HiJackThis on the other hand is really simple,
as it is portable and doesn't affect much of your
pc performances

Not for the beginners, despite being compiled as a simple program. A removal mistake and it can bring detrimental effects to the PC.

I don't really trust chinese software, it only make the pc slower.

This is the international version of 360 antivirus, and it is in English.

Chinese software improve a lot in this few years.
more and more challenging among them, so they must make their software better and better.
especially free AV like Qihoo. they must make it better so that ppl will choose it since the free one is easy to get and easy to give up at the same time. You should give it a try.

Personally I use eset smart security 7 as protection.
got free beta test. That's why its free.
still quite good for a free internet security.

Better use paid version of antivirus with real time scanning

I use Avast Free and Malwarebytes on my PC.

I have upgraded my Malwarebytes to PRO version but not Avast as I think that the free version is good enough.

Anyway, they both work great.

Just want to clarify Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware even the PRO or Paid version only served as complementary to existing security suite. This is something their developers publicly admitted on their respective forum years ago even though they never made it clear on the product page. That's why I never contemplating of spending money on MBAM and only restrict it as second opinion scanner even though it is affordable and comes with lifetime license.

When free, don't expect the best. Standard virus scanning yes. Imagine, you need to use multiple software, at least 3 software to run behind your windows to protect from malware (Virus, trojan, worm, rootkoits, spyware, adware &etc). if you r serious about gaming or performance, go buy real software lar.

nowadays, good security software comes cheap for 1 year protection. eg RM80 per year, like less than RM7 per month...dai to lan lor..,

My Kaspersky licence expired and I start using Qihoo 360 Internet Security with Spybot Search and Destroy. Very impressed with Qihoo to date. I use their 360 mobile safe as well. Give it a try before you purchase some proprietary internet security suite.
