After that you go choice of softcore or hardcore characters. Up to you which you prefer. Personally i prefer softcore. I did completed the campaign and achievement relating to HC, but it's just not my thing

As for auction house, they are removing it sometime around when Reaper of Souls is released. the removal of the ah, because that gives us more time and commitment to just simply playing the game , rather than play stock broker on ah. Diablo shouldn't be turned into a trading game.... this is not eve online

But i see that blizz is trying to keep the unofficial third party trading markets under control for places like j2sp, by adding bind to account to keep that in check. So the only sure way is to play with small groups of 4, and trade items within alotted times if your in the same game when the item drops.

Enchanting items is a nice thing to have. I guess they this is our solace for losing auction house. And if i had the choice i rather have enchantment, because then even if you find a legendary with a few bad stats, you may just be able to tweak it so it could be good by gambling on the affix type and values. That is much preferable then just brimming or vendoring it.

But regardless of whether loot 1.0 and the new content in crusader lives up to expectations; what will remain the same is end game content, or should i say the lack of it. Sure you got rifts, and bounties.... but so what ? Thats just endless farming, and it's always been like that :/ There isn't much credible pvp or battlegrounds; or some hybrid pvp to make worthwhile end game replayability usage for. So after 3-4 months i think most people would move on to the next game till the next expansion

it takes a long while for them to create a third party server to simulate mmo. Also from what i've seen even then the experience is poor.

just pre-ordered from blizzards digital store for digital premium. my account shows it as a collector edition.

i farmed up to paragorn 376, hopefully i can make 400 in 1-2 days more x_x; then i take it easy.

440 now but got maintenace. hope i can make to 500 before ros launch

if you buy deluxe edition.... in your bnet account it shows as a collector edition ...... that makes sense because all the virtual goodies you get..

1. 2 extra char slots
2. a pet
3. some transmorg goodies

is the same as the more expensive CE physical box.

The only real difference is you don't get the

1. artbook
2. the music cd
3. the mouse pad
4. cinematics for how they done it :/ ?

I bought the first D3 CE and that came with a diablo skull figurine with a usb crystal shard preloaded with diablo 2 + expansion on it. So to me that was a better CE.

But this expansion CE didn't have much of interest. So got the digital deluxe.


Oh and if you preorder as in activate D3 ros before the launch, you get golden wings added to your account. I think regular players will also get it as well .... which is kind of odd....

I do ACT 1 COTA T6 with the following group

Monk = puller
2 wizards = damage dealers (very op right now)
myself (barbarian) = i act like a forward scout, finding white creeps using whirlwind and leap, and larcerate. I use the lut sock boots to jump 3 times in a row. so i have very high mobility)

We can clear a cota within 20-25 seconds or less FLAT.

Monk groups everything up, wizards blast them dead under a second or 2. I just run ahead to find creeps, and also to indicate to the other 3 party members which route they should follow from the path i took. I also flag when there is a pool or some mobs they need to kill.

We also maintain a standard route so all the teamplayers know what that route is, and they play better as this gets repeated over and over

I have lesser playtime compared to many of the hardcore players here, but i already far out leveled them in paragorn. for example, before loot 2.0 patch, i only had 1 character para 100. my other 8 classes were only para 20 and below. So now i have more para than people pre 2.0 that had 10 chars all para 100(in para 2.0 i think that is roughly 300 ish para ?)

Mostly because of the community bonus 50% , Torment 6 exp bonus, leoric signet exp bonus, marquise ruby in helm exp bonus, hellfire ring (i'm still using 1.0 version :{ ) exp bonus.... , 4 players team exp bonus....., pool bonus 25% (can stack to make the bonus last longer), and lastly fast cota clears under 20-25 seconds consistently....



As for gear farming, i recommend doing Core of Arreat runs. I do mine in t6 and just loot demonic chests repeatedly. I notice that the legendary drop rate over time seems to be higher than elsewhere. That is why lots of people do core farm runs. You can do it in T1 i suppose if your not as geared as me.

so 90% of my playtime is cota, and the remaining 10% is core runs. So i can get both high exp and enough legends everyday i play d3 This is way more efficient than just simply re-playing the entire game from scratch if you consider exp + loot over the same duration played when compared to cota/core runs.


i know some people even more hardcore. They are in the 570+ paragorn range

Mostly it's because we have proper teams doing it under 20-25 seconds. So if your group can't do that and take longer, or if you don't consistently do it long enough, then you don't get much result right ?

I set my personal target daily at lv 10. Anything else is just extra.

Maybe for you maybe try aim 5 levels first ?


Honestly my dps isn't good enough to solo cota because i don't do enough damage to clear cota fast enough, so that is why i instead make parties with people who have high dps. So most of my own contribution besides my paltry damage is to kite creeps to make it easier for the wizards to nuke them. also i got mobility to scout which routes to take, so the team follows behind me after they cleared the whites.

I found the Skorn i bought with 5+% to keep me alive to do cota. But now that auction house is gone, and there is very few days remaining until ros, this is probably no longer an option for you to pursue :/ (i'm assuming your main is a barb ? )

also when you clear as fast as my group, its better to be in group for more bonus exp. The only reason to solo is if you can't find a group or form a good one.

that guy has way more time on his hands. He got them paypal donations to support his life style how to fight that. Also mentally i'm not like him, can do cota months on end.... i only spent 1 week okay from 100 para to 400 +, then i stopping (500). Big difference from people like kong .... their on a whole new level of obsession I like D3, just not that much

anyway my game plan is, 500 para for the para skill points 50/50 that i need. with the attack speed nerfs, and the lack of other stats on my gear, i needed these paragorn skill points to get the attributes to fill in the gaps for my gear X_X: that is the only reason i bothered doing paragorn.

After that i'll just casually farm gear when i'm free, and maybe do an achievement at a time for 100%

cauz cota is not fun, it's just a means to an end while there is the community event bonus.

TIP: you can easily 1 shot cota elite using this weapon for monk



it's crazy op right now o_o;

looking at it ingame i feel that you still need 2 good wizard dps to backup the monk with it. to make it more effective.

I was in a group with high dps, but sometime its take slightly longer to mow down his hp. So a weapon like can 1 shot the remainder and save time. To make it possible to down an elite before i complete my teleport back to base.

people were saying cota is bad now for exp.

i was getting 2.015 billion experience every 45minutes (this is roughly the amount to level up for me)

You do a few snake runs or something over the same duration and compare, then decide for yourself

someone told me act 2 snake runs was like 1.8 b exp for the same duration. not sure how accurate that is, but i think generally speaking,

1. if you are not so well geared
2. a noobie
3. can't get a good group who knows what they are doing to do cota properly,

then your better off doing snakes in act 2 for the quest called a royal audience......

It only makes sense to do cota if you can do it efficiently with a will experienced and geared crew. Also the downside is it's much tiring than snakes, because of the elite factor you need to avoid .... (arcanes, poison, blizzard etc etc...)

ahmadz in the lowyat d3 clan showed me the core of arreat demonic chests run in act 3.

I think you need 100-200 or more magic find to make it be more consistent in dropping legendaries.


But i'm not sure whether they nerfed that already or not


Some other people were saying rumford at the gates, to kill the mothers in act 1 has a high legendary drop rate if repeated.

Another theory is farming in whimsy shire.



For undergeared do it at Torment level 1.



Blue posts say

1. set gear only drops in torment level
2. higher torment level has higher chance for legendary drops *but they don't disclose the actual drop rates
3. certain legendaries only drop on higher torment levels (e.g. it's possible only the really good stuff drops in t6 .....if what they say is true)

*another tip, try do these farms in a group. So even if your dps sux, other people can carry you. do this with either clan mates, friends, or in public games.



LV 60 gear will suck compared to lv 70, but you still need some decent lv 60 to progress and level to lv 70 and to make it easier to farm for gear. So having good gear prior to ros will help you achieve your goals that much faster.

I already bought a 3 piece cain set for my crusader to power level as an example.

wow i read on diablofans, a blue posted that diablo will 100% drop a legendary on ROS LAUNCH !!!

So i got 9 characters on normal all lv 60, so i'm going to kill diablo with all 9 of them on launch date the first thing.

After that, then i will start playing as a crusader.

Sure i could play as barb and complete the game sooner, but frankly i'm more interested as playing as a crusader as my main from ros now onwards :}

cota runs is the talk to alaric quest in act 1.

he sends you off to find some quest item in 2 locations, one of which is located in cota, a very small cavern with pit that has skeleton summoners and minions, and an elite.

you just mow them down, have the leader teleport to base and exit (preferaly they should use the teleport shoulder pads to tp out faster without interruptions). This boots the entire team out of the game.

For quick resume, all 4 players must have a solid state hard drive, or else it disbands the entire team, which is kinda annoying, and makes remaking slower.

doing this repeatedly, from my own testing, you can get 2.015 Billion Experience points over 45 minutes (for me to level up around lv 500 + paragorn)


To put this into perspective, the crypt runs prior to loot 2.0 where people stacked creeps, only gave something like 30 million ISH exp per hour ...... so now you understand just how good cota 2.0 with the community 100% experience bonus is


PS: in a recent hotfix, blizzard has reduced the exp gain by swarming mobs (including mobs in cota obviously), from giving too much exp.

Even with that, cota is still one of the best exp farming spots. But once ros is released and the 100% community event exp bonus is gone, i doubt it will be good anymore :{
