since the conversion happen last month. How do feel about the new system?

<rant>
As for my opinion, is hell worst then before. My SG GT has SGD $69.92 after the conversion to local currency, what the hell am i going to do with 0.02 cent? when everything cost $19.99 thats the new pricing for 1600MSP. On top of the mix-match using US GT and non-US GT, its a big messy with all the different prices of items in the marketplace.

MSP is better in standardizing the prices in the marketplace globally. Currently, there are several items prices are higher than US marketplace due to local currency conversion. This is the same thing happening in PSN UK and PSN US, where prices are inflated in the UK store. I even heard from UK steam users claiming several games are priced higher than the US store on steam due to currency conversion.

Still on MSP. At least you can use the converted currency to buy apps/games for Windows Phone, if you have one.

It's easier for me since now I don't have to be kiasu and look for the cheapest MSP deals and my credit card details are with MS - so it works more like steam, the disadvantage is you don't get the deep discounting when buying MSP. Convenience wise its great.

I'm on the beta and on the more expensive UK marketplace. I bought Charlie Murder yesterday at 6.99GBP inclusive of VAT which works out at roughtly RM35.50 compared to 10USD/RM33 - I'm not sure whether there's a sales tax for US purchases but if there is, it's supposed to be added on after check out. In any case, I'm not losing sleep over RM2.50

Also.. that 0.02 cents will be used against your next purchase. I don't see why you have to store value on your account now. Just pay when you actually want to buy something.

Charlie Murder is SGD$12.90 = RM32.25 so I think the price is similar to USD ?

With the update no more MSP so can we use our credit cards (Malaysian) for purchases even though the console is SG or US?

Not sure about that, but one thing I know, ever since early this year, I can use Malaysian debit card for purchases on my US account. Before, I can't even get past the card setup page.

I've been using my Malaysian credit card for my xboxlive account for more than a year now. I'm not sure if you still need to input a UK/US/SIN address when you input your card details but that's what i did when i registered my CC.

Also, I get the impression that using a credit card is better than a debit card due to better online fraud protection.

That's what I did too. Put in US detail for my debit. It doesn't work last year though.

IMHO, since I only reload my debit card when I'm purchasing anything, it's way more safer.

I can't seem to find my cash balance in xbox.com after the conversion. I can see it on the xbox dashboard when trying to purchase stuff, but on xbox.com it doesn't show my cash balance. Any advice here?

When you mention about it, yeah, its not showing on either full or mobile site. Maybe it'll launch together with the new XBL Rewards this Sept?

*ambassador advise*

You may refer to https://billing.microsoft.com/ for your local currency balance in your account.

Alternatively you may just click purchase on any title and it will show the remaining balance in your account. too.

Agreed. I can confirmed on this.

But somehow, in my experiences, if buying from xbox.live, it won't show. I had to use my default payment options. e.g. credit cards, debit card, paypal..

But when I buy from the console, I can use my cash balance. Should my cash balance is not enough, it will let you top it up with normal payment.

e.g.

Game: $15

Cash Balance: $10

You will be paying the extra $5 with credit card etc.

Well.... AFAIK... Mixed payment mode is not allowed. You'll have to either buy things that is less than $10, or use other payment for $15....

Mr ambassador, last night I tried to purchase Forza3 VIP pack from the website. When I click purchase, the only payment option is to use my card. No acccount balance listed. How ah?

Really? I had like $6 credit and bought Minecraft via console. I used Paypal and was prompted if I want to use combine the payment with the $6 credit I have. So I agreed.

Double checked via Paypal. It was confirmed. Paypal charged me only $13.

Maybe Microsoft loves me...

It happened to me too. Led me to think that, after double checking it, if we bought via xbox.com, it will use our normal payment method e.g. credit card, paypal, debit card etc. But if you are buying via console, they'll show you the credit option.

That sounds about right, the way the system is supposed to work is that you select the credit card paying option (or your default option) and then before the final confirmation button for payment comes up, it would then give you the option to offset any balance you have on your account against chosen method of payment - at least that's how it was working during the beta. My oustanding balance was never shown except upon checkout. This was on the dashboard, never tested on the website.

Ya'all getting not what I wish and not getting cry.gif

When I select purchase on console (cause during Beta they already stated purchase via xbox.com not supported) the balance in account will show only when the item cost less or equal to what I had in account (and this clearly does not apply to FarCry3r, which, is Mr. ambassador too brows.gif )

and I cannot do any mix payment when I purchase my avatar suit (to clear all my remaining balance in XBL)
