It's better if you stick to one. Both running might clash together.

Err.... i don't think u can run two antivirus at the same thing. The software doesn't allow that anyway. For my experience, i install norton and avg. When run norton, the software cant allow u to run avg. Just to one to run la!! tongue.gif

There's no obvious advantage in running two realtime antivirus at the same time. It might even crash your antivirus system or consume more memory.

You can install one primary antivirus and if you need extra scanning, find for online scanner.

Yes, tat like wad i do, Using AVG for daily while once in a month i scan using the Kaspersky online scan, no point to keep two AV as most of the time they are resource hungry.

the second AV only will give problem with the Primary AV when they both are running..... U can install both on a machine but only need to run 1 AV at a time. So that means you have to choose your primary AV and disable the secondary AV when start up. Use it only when u need it.

no need to install more than 1 AV...
doesn't improve anything at all..
just make ur pc lagging and conflict with other antivirus...
just try to update to the latest virus definition, ur comp. will be safe.. happy.gif

Guess you got eye sight problem, or you didn't know what is the meaning of *clash*? whistling.gif

Most AV's clash with each other, like what I've said in my post.
Thread starter, all of the people have given their POV, and it is up to u to follow or not.
Pls close this thread if you have found your solution, as the spam number will increase. whistling.gif

not recommended...having 2 antivirus running at the same time within your system...

Test it last time:

Install Norton, and Install Panda ..

Crash your computer...you can't even login to your desktop laugh.gif
If you mean secondary protection?..I'd rather use Spybot S&D

If you are really that security paranoid, you can have these AVs running at the same time(Real Time):- (provided it is Win XP SP2--that is my OS)

-Kaspersky Personal Pro (Not so sure about Personal Edition)
-ESET NOD32
-F-PROT (THIS ONE IS LOUSY,scanning time is crappy and when I was testing it, it can't even detect EICAR "virus" =.=...lame)

But then again, as a word of caution, having two AVs in Real-Time Mode is a speed disaster, ur rig will lag for sure.

As in having two AVs will clash IS NOT the case ALL the time. I used Norton System Works 2006(The Anti-Virus inside the set, I mean) with NOD32, but my system was stable.(perfect rather, lol, but slow) It depends on which one is SOLEly for scanning, which one is for Real Time Monitoring. You must not get that wrong, else... I rest my case.

btw, Spybot S&D is for killing spyware and adware, it is not a AV. (plz take note)

The most important thing is DO NOT OPEN ANONYMOUS EMAIL ESP. WITH "FUNNY" ATTACHMENTS. No point u install hundreds of AV but u still "allow" new smart-virus to spread easily by clicking links/attachments...

Normally one antivirus on one computer is sufficient.

Nowadays, antivirus are not as needed as before because instead of p2p, we go torrent now. How many of us has encountered antivirus on torrent files?

I previously used Norton until came 2005, I switched AVG cause it's free. Norton changes EVERY year. Whether you get the original or the pirated, it's still TOO troublesome.

To me, basically all antiviruses are the same
Norton
McAfee
Trendmicro
AVG
Avast
Sophos
Ahnlab

They basically just scan for virus which in my opinion is quite rare these days. Even webmails like gmail, hotmail, etc scans for viruses first before you download your attachment. What more is there?

Having two antivirus will usually clash your system. It happened before in the older days but til now, I doubt there's any two antivirus that can run parallel compatibly.

Actually I have both Norton 2005 and AVG installed on my comp, and so far no clashes (thank goodness) The only bad thing is that startups and program loads slower..

Norton is a total resource hog, slows down nearly everything (open files etc). But I guess I feel more secured with the added protection tongue.gif In addition to these AVs I have Spybot and Ad-Aware too biggrin.gif

A word of advice, try to check whether ceratin AV combos can cause catastrophe... From my experience, NOD32, Kaspersky Personal Pro and F-PROT are AV's u can mix. Definitely no Problem. I tried the combo myself.

AVG and Norton, it really eats up ur memory, how much ram u hav ( juz wondering)? I might suggect u knock out Norton ler, not much use 1. I have Norton reporting hundreds of viruses, but never getting around to removing half of them. =.=
