Why is longines less reputable as compared to tag heuer and brands that share the same tier? Is it because it is not good as its competitors or it has not done enough of marketing?

Personally I think of Longines is of way better pedigree compared with Tag Heuer. Perhaps their design doesn't appeal much to young Malaysians.

Depends on region also.

Find more famous spokesperson. Gain more publicity especially those ah Bengs who don't know about watches.

I dunno why it appears unpopular to most people; especially those people in my age group who believes that Tag is in every way more superior than Longines.
But whatever, I'm still in love with mine:

i would guess attracting ah bengs isnt at the top of longines priorities...
and spokesperson, not many ppl from other brands also 'speak'.

one look at longines catalog already and you can tell they produce more watches for females, and males who want abit of class...ie. more dressy watches.
so in short, ah bengs need not apply.

In terms of brand recognition, TAG has a very clear path, sports and hollywood, more specifically, they are deeply rooted in motor sports, along with big names in sports like Tiger Woods, Maria Sharapova. Hollywood covered by Shah Rukh Khan, Leonardo, Cameron Diaz etc. Longines direction? Andre Agassi is er, outdated, same with Aaron Kwok.

As for heritage, I'm not sure if Longines is a diver's watch first and foremost, a pilot's watch, or a gentleman's watch. Least Tag is consistent with being sports and motorsports all along.

At the end of the day, both primarily uses ETA derived movement, with the exception some models of TAG having "in-house" movement in the form of a Seiko derived base. Which is honestly worst than ETA. That's like being a ******* child of a Swiss father and a Japanese mistress.

One would think Omega will be #1 since both Mr and Mrs Xi wears constellation.
