all items sold locally in Australia should come with GST incl. with proper tax invoice

some tips on claiming GST at TRS counter in airport,

- purchase must be a minimal amount of 300AUD, on a single receipt or several purchases but only at the same store or same store at different branches.

- a proper Tax Invoice must be shown to TRS officer for a successful claim, it must have
the word Tax Invoice written on it, company name and ABN number, total price and GST amount charged (or total price with GST incl. stated)

- you must present the item at hand to the officer, so DO NOT keep the product in the check in luggage as the TRS counter is located after immigration. You do not need to open it's packaging if you're buying it as a gift.

Google Store did have some issues handling out Tax Invoices for the N4, this has been resolved very recently,

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-repli...m?t=2050306&p=7

the GST claimable for N5 16GB with shipping is

$399+$19 = $418

subtract 10% = GST is $38, approx RM 110

price of N5 after GST deduction = $380 AUD, approx RM 1,140

FYI, Nexus 4 and 5 AU are shipped from Singapore

a quick look at SG prices for those who want nearer access

http://www.pricepanda.com.sg/lg-nexus-5-pid1518901/

that's around RM 1,350.

paying RM 1,999 to any of the lowyat sellers here is the most nonsensical thing you can ever do in your life, but then again maybe that's how malaysia has been for the years I was away, my own country folk will always prey on the weak minded, the ignorant and the egotistical.

for every RM 1,999 N5 successfully sold, I say,

"A fool and his money has parted"

Some people pay extra for convenience. For me I'd rather work a bit to pay less.

the 'extra' here is too excessive IMO, it almost includes a return ticket to Melbourne at air asia's promo prices.

M'sians got hit with budget 2014 and rising sugar + petrol prices.

I do not wish to see my own country men getting slaughtered left right center,

I wish the uninformed guys out there good luck, though I strongly believe ANYONE who was interested on the latest GOOGLE phone would know how to use GOOGLE in the first place to get all these info.

http://www.theopensurface.com/location

it seems they are grey importing the US version of N5, I have not done a research on differences between US and AU specs

For ordering from Aus, I used my Malaysian credit card and just put my Aus address as the billing address.. no issues.

I also managed to get Google to issue me the tax invoices. This can be quite troublesome as I had to send emails back and forth, since they were requesting irrelevant info before agreeing to issue me the invoices.

Hopefully I won't encounter any problems at the airport with the tax invoices, since it shows Google's Singapore address, but the ABN is stated there and Australian GST was paid..

please refer to this pic as an example

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7u7hepag758u34d/n5-tax-invoice.png

if you got the same, shouldn't be any issues

remember to go very early if claiming GST as the TRS line can be hell like LDP at 5pm

I agree too. But it's their money, just pity them not doing proper research before buying. About release date, i think LG Malaysia should at least say something even if they are not planning to bring it anytime soon. At least it would ease some of us dying to get this handset.

the N5 was in my wish list, until I read some initial reviews, having second thoughts now sad.gif

take note that the 2300mAh battery isn't going to impress much, and the camera + LCD screen brightness is considered subpar

previously it was rumored the 32GB would get a hefty 3000mAh upgrade, I guess the LG G2 folks were just teasing.

but hey, at 350 USD to the average American, that's a great budget phone with no silly contracts attached.

The only thing i find it not that good is the speaker quite soft, the focusing of camera is quite bad(quite hard to focus correctly) , and the rattle power button.

this is confirmed in a few reviews and some pages back and some reviewers did not mention anything about it.

could be a few bad batch of phones on first shipment since supply can't keep up with demand
