Yup,the D820 [US version] doesn't support our LTE bands. The D821 [internation version] does though.

If I buy Nexus 5, I'll use it for at least 2 years due to its strong custom ROM community and instant Android update.
So have to plan for future a bit.  

if buy nexus 5 from US, can use in M'sia? the GSM will work here? and is the phone locked?

To put it simply, Nexus 5 comes in 2 versions:

North America
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

Rest of World
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20


The LTE bands used in Malaysia are 3 and 7.

If you get a US version Nexus 5, you wont be able to get the LTE speed in Malaysia but everything would work fine.

If you get a non-US edition, you will be able to enjoy the LTE speed provided by local carriers.

Note that the price of Nexus 5 outside US is slightly higher compared to US.

I was really into XZ1 before N5 came out. Now I'm in a dilemma on which to
choose.

Why I like XZ1: Processor, premium feel design, cam
Why I like N5: Processor, OS updates, cheap

Since I'll only get a phone on Jan,  XZ1 AP set would probably drop to RM16xx whereas N5 will just arrive in Malaysia. 32gb N5 by then would be RM16xx I think?

So more or less the same. Can u give me some opinions please?

Is it cheaper to buy N5/XZ1 in UK/European countries? Might be going there for hols.
