Probably an compression fail. Which channels are these happening on? Should report it to HyppTV. Maybe request for a method to override display aspect ratio as well (I don't mind picture stretching to full screen - in fact, I prefer it to LCD persistence forming lines on my TV), but some people apparently do).

I looked into the setup aspect ratio settings. I think that only affects the menu UI, the show will always stretch to meet screen aspect ratio.
Not surprised. What you get when you vote for conservative gomen like BN >.>

the ruby channels - scm, baogu, red... even newer movies. ruby tv channels are fine, correct aspect ratios.

looks to me all the ruby movies are original 16:9 stretched to about 3:1 on my tv, large black bars on top and bottom.

Our CC will also have South Park blocked from transmission like on Assteruk IPTV and ABN... The only thing watchable on the channel is Colbert which is already going to end.

What's so sensitive about South Park?

Hmmm... Not sure if these are in-house or Taiwan. If it's the latter then should file report with them, not TM.

You know laa.

However Comedy Central is one of those channels that is available on all three platforms (although assteruk only has it if you sign up for assteruk IPTV on Maxis Fiber). I remember reading that the CC feed on assteruk IPTV is blocking South Park. I assume TM and ABN are taking the same feed.

Connect the HDMI to monitor as usual, connect the RCA audio to powered speakers or an amplifier. If you have speakers/amp that have optical in, use the optical in instead.

monitor plus multimedia (for audio) will cost about the same as small tv.
you do that only if you want the monitor to serve as something else too, like for a pc or gaming.

No conflict, still can produce sound. I use this all the time - HDMI to TV, composite video and audio to old Macintosh.

Btw, the better deal would be to look into a monitor with speaker integrated. Some monitors have this ability- most notably some higher end Dell and Acer monitors.

Does anyone here notice that BBC Knowledge it states HD but is actually SD? and the 2 CBS channels used to be in good HD quality, recently they downscale the HD into SD. Is this something that we can report to TM?

i think a few more "hd" channels are not hd, just sd. universal, travel, lux, fashion are suspect, look like sd to me.
warner, syfy, iconcerts are hd.

this is interesting...
it says, "It's free for subscribers of SCM - available in selected regions where SCM is available.".
which means this app can be standalone, can be used on tablets and phones but carries a subscription fee...?

on hypptv stb, scm is there.

on hypptv everywhere, scm is not there.
red, baogu of same ruby pack are not there too.
tvb8, now mango, seti are there.

looks to me hypptv's not licensed to give foc on everywhere even for subscribers bcos scm wants to sell it to all mobile users. just like astro sold worldcup live matches at rm6 per match to non-subscriber mobile users via astro-on-the-go.

understandably, it is evident that the bigger target for some entertainment biz people is in mobile device users, not the big 4k uhd tv in the house.

i personally have yet to accept the idea of watching a movie/tv show on a mobile phone or ipad! tongue.gif

They're upscaling SD content. HD channels tend to cheat like that. They broadcast in HD, but their library is mostly SD shows. So, air upscaled content most of the time.

Even though HD has been around for almost a decade, studios only started producing HD content for TV in the last 4-5 years.

Afaik the old box is not rootable, it uses a proprietary OS.

You can root the new one however. And I think TM will change the box if you say it has problems.

Wait, I don't think TM will replace your box for free if the warranty period is over. You can however ask your wife/brother to register a new account get all new equipment and then terminate your old account (provided the contract period is over to avoid penalty).
