if my tv is an old CRT tv, without hdmi port, can i watch HD channel with hypptv? i want to subscribe to channel M HD, but i scared couldn't watch it without hdmi connection.

astro , i know cannot watch HD channel without hdmi connection but hypptv , anybody try before?

old crt tv can never get hd, whatever input.

hypptv box has component, s-video and composite output. u can use any of them, component being the best of them, composite being worst. note all these 3 outputs are as obsolete as yr crt tv.

astro should be the same - u just use other output.

but still i can watch channel 621 ( travel channel hd )and channel 622 ( luxe.tv hd )without any hdmi connection, any explaination for this ?

u can get travelhd/luxhd... yes, u get the video, but it is not hd - becos yr tv cannot support hd, the video is scaled down for the tv. (hdtv with hdmi will have the video in hd.)

u will get the same thing for any hd channel, incl M.

channels hd or not, the video quality coming out on yr crt tv will be about the same.

I am using CRT super old unbranded 21" TV before by using the composite jack, all channels are watchable except the feature of HD.

yes, currently i connect my crt to hypptv box using rca. the quality of picture is not bad, coz crt produce same quality as hd i guess.

but this won't happen to astro is it? without hdmi connection, u won't get any hd channel even u subscribe to their basic hd services. correct me if i am wrong.

hd can only be delivered to hdtv via hdmi, whether input is astro hd, hypptv hd or bluray or hd media files.

correct me if I am wrong.. I thought HDMI is the direct source for HD... without it, astro or not astro.. u can't display out HD...

well , i understand the meaning of HD , just i wonder why astro not same as hypptv, whereas the hyppty can downscale the resolution to fit into crt so we can watch the hd channel even not in the HD resolution, just like travel channel hd and luxe.tv hd.

ya, only hdmi connection n hdmi cables can handle hd video and hd audio. all other cables can't. of course, if signal is non-hd, u dun get hd.if u mean for some hd channels of astro, u can't get anything if u use rca cables, that's a surprise to me. maybe that's how the new decoder works. i dropped astro long time ago...

well thats the fact about astro. i want to cancel astro too but i still have old folks that too rely on its hokkien channel.

what iptv that u using now besides hypptv? i want to try some tv box but not familliar with apps. i want a tv box can give me channel M and animax.

my advice is... if yr folks or anyone must have the hokkien or canto stuff that astro offer, stick to astro. there is really no other cheap and reliable alternative at this time - for the same shows and language.

for others who prefer mandarin like me, u can dump astro quick as there are tonnes of good free stuff incl hd u can get with an androidtv box and 5-10mbps broadband. but... i will not open up pandora's box here!

My gripe is why so many tv shows are repeated several times. If you going to make more malaysians more educated with facts of life on our planet, start showing more bbc knowledge and other science channels with newer episodes!

yes, bro.. they don't have control over certain extend.. but, they do have choices to provide more / alternatives programmes... the kids package even my kids also dont want to watch... why? keep on repeating until they so "sien"

I am now on basic free channels, officially no premium packs as already asked TM to terminate mega and sports.

I think I am gonna join u soon... so far, I only watch the 2 astro channel via sports pack (that also when the game is on my favorite team) and NTV7 news only... so, I am paying for something that I hardly use actually...

If you have the jumbo pack (since you wanted to upgrade the speed to 10mbps anyway) you may actually sell the HYPP TV everywhere logins to 2 people at say, RM20 each? They get to see everything you have on HYPP TV.
