Got it from dxbox n it cost us26 but yet to recieved it,  probably next week. Temporarily I dismantled the dock n took out the cable.  Can easily put cable back into dock if needed.

Some user at XDA said can replace. I never try though. Bundle working fine (but in Chinese language only), so I didn't bother much about it.

14.1.B.1.510 Firmware Review

New features & enhancement

  • New UI Interface - Smooth, better than previous one.
  • White-Grey Setting background.
  • New added animation, new waiting animation design.
  • All UI corner slighly curve.
  • Small Apps can open more than one.
  • International keyboard finally support mini keyboard.
  • Favorite Contact image is big and clear.
  • Contact image is small when receiving/answering call.
  • New Messaging design.
  • New Alarm and Clock, New Calculator, New widget design.
  • X-Reality support, this really work out, as I notice it really sharpen my 720P video playback.
  • Camera Superior Auto mode working fine, but I feel previous .475 seems better slightly.
  • Overall extremely smoother than previous firmware.
Bugs I found

  • Sound enhancements Settings force closed. I not sure is that due to I had previously install another version or what, or it really got problem in this latest firmware. I never try Factory Reset to see whether it will solved or not. Anyone willling Factory Reset kindly let us know whether it fixed or not.
oh well! you rechanged my mind and poof I updated biggrin.gif

to answer your question, the Sound Enhancements -> Settings force close problem does not exist on my device. no factory reset needed. so must be due to the previously installed version u made that broke it

the new UI is awesome! can't wait for a stable root to use back all my root apps

i'll answer a bit...

as for pricing in penang maybe u can refer to ur local store coz Sony Centers will still sell at RM2299 retail regardless of location until further notice

as for the variant, it is expected that LTE version of the phone will come into Malaysian market in september (as rumours been flying around)

at this moment only the HSPA+ variant is available.
in my humble opinion, this phablet is sufficient for ur day-to-day mobile computing usage without the LTE for 2 years.
the phablet is more catered for the media geeks who enjoys vids/games at bigger and great screen, it does fair share of social networking but yeah I don't enjoy typing much with 2 hands holding the device. so, define ur usage as all other phones are also usable for 2 or more years.

Your answer is totally fill me in.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Is there any extra accessories that is included? i watch those unboxing on youtube, they got docking, case, etc
i worried if I take LTE, there will some minor hardware differences, so is custom rom that will available to it.

So better take normal on instead?
*
the docking needs to be bought separately, as well as the case. you pretty much get the standard premium earplug, microusb cable and the power adapter

unlike SGS4, the Z Ultra comes with only a single kind of chipset, the Snapdragon 800 with Krait 400 processors. Any future custom kernels for the device should be working fine for all the device's variant. as for custom rom, there will be some discrepancies but shouldn't matter which variant u're using as there are plenty of ROM dev who will develop/port their custom ROM accordingly smile.gif

you might as well wait a little to get the LTE variant since you are looking for something long term but actively tweaking the device coz most part of the world will get LTE version of the device...at least while waiting you can observe how fast the custom developments progress (which I feel is very fast) and also be able to see if the Xperia Z1 might fit your usage

I'm happy with the stock, and i'm not too fond with the idea of LTE subscription as the demand for such speed in such mobile device is redundant for me so I got myself HSPA+ variant n happily using it.

Oh to make SuperSU as your default you can do the following:
1. Install SuperSU from PS.
2. Update SSU binary.
3. Open Root Explorer, mount R/W and delete superuser.apk in system/app
4. Done.

that's what I did when I rooted the .475 smile.gif

ps: any userbar for this phone? :3

after flashing back to 475 i really miss 510 x-reality and snappiness, so i proceeded in giving 510 another chance

after flashing 510 immediately got sod issues, so i took andrewtst advice by repairing my phone through sony update service.

Voila, 510 running without issues now, touch wood. still monitoring the situation

also without turning of optimized backlight~!  rclxms.gif

this issue used to happen when i was using Xperia SP that I meddled with some of the system apps before updating. to be safe, revert all changes you made to the system app before updating with pc companion i guess...that explains a lot on why the repair is necessary

Just rooted the 510 firmware . Tested and working well with Adaway, root explorer n Titanium Backup
Steps :
Use flashtool n flash Generic HK kernel ftf
Use VRoot 1.6 to root
Use flashtool n flash Generic Taiwan kernel ftf
Optional ( which I did ) : download from playstore and  install chainfire SuperSU to replace Chinese SU

Details are here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...2405318&page=39

Done successfully and tested the replacement of the Chinese superuser app to SuperSU similarly to how i did it in .475 smile.gif

rooted flawlessly, all settings still intact and nothing went broken...now i can use my full!screen+ back biggrin.gif

Before root
Most of my battery was drained by screen
After root using vroot, most of the battery now is drained by Android System.
Anyone experience the same as me?
*
i suspect there's a lot of thing going on with the chinese superuser app thus consume more battery in the background

I am superb pretty sure that Taiwan kernel got problem~

The phone don't have stuck issue when I switch to Hong Kong kernel post by Benny888 for vroot to root my phone.

After success root, I use thatisazam method to make Chainfire SuperSU as default and remove that Chinese SuperSU. Successful as well.

Then when I restore the stupid Taiwan kernel, the stupid fake hang issue appear back! OMG!

Thanks a lot Benny888 & thatisazam of the guide.

But my phone still stupidly hang.... the SOD still appear... now gonna backup everything 1st before restore again using Update Services see how.

During use Hong Kong kernel, I notice it not support exFAT 64GB card but the latest stupid Taiwan kernel support it.

Before that I don't have any issue, then it just sudden appear, also no idea is that because of apps I install. I suspect is Remote RDP as I notice seems is that one make my phone alarm icon keep missing at status bar after a while. Now gonna do it without install that. See how.
*
btw, if u dn have issues with the hong kong kernel, means ur .510 firmware must be not complete..coz when i got on tht HK kernel (which was meant for .475) my Xperia and several other service are failing to start

Yes.  same bugs.

Wait until login. Now immediate goto display and tick back the Optimize Backlight and shutdown the phone.

In your next startup the phone,  the fake hang issue will not happen and you can decide want to use optimize backlight or not.

But, just make sure you must tick back the Optimize Backlight before you plan to switch off the phone again.
Conclusion is there is no fake hang when the Optimize Backlight is turned on before you shut down.

The SOD after lock the screen won't happen if your startup never face fake hang.

You need to do below 1st, or else it won't happen.

How to make startup fake hang happen

  • Un-tick Optimised backlight and shutdown the phone.
  • Switch on the phone - you will facing the fake hang issue.
How to get SOD

  • After above scenario fake hang happen, wait until it load to phone, +/- 1 min.
  • Immediate locked the screen. Tada! Screen of Dead happen!
How to solved the issue.

  • Force restart the phone - either take out the SIM card or press and hold the red button beside SIM card and wait until 3 vibrate, the phone is switch off.
  • Switch on the phone, the fake hang still exist, as usual wait +/-1 min to let the phone load in.
  • Tick back Optimised backlight and immediate shutdown the phone.
  • Now start the phone back, you will notice the fake hang during startup no longer happen.
  • No SOD also when locked and unlocked the screen.
Can we still not using the Optimised backlight?

  • YES - as long as you remember to tick back before plan to shutdown the phone.
Why I not prefer to use Optimised backlight?

  • The screen color more dull a bit and less pure black.
  • It is obvious noticeable when you slide left at App Drawer for more features of App Drawer, the dark grey will became bright grey in Optimised backlight.

*
andrew, seems like I can't reproduce the error...my firmware is encrypted (n it's a one way street) which i can't remove the encryption since i first got the phone (i meddled too much on phone security due to previously stolen HTC Butterfly).

I turned off backlight optimization and reboot as usual with SIM pin and encryption password then it boots normally as usual. the backlight optimization settings is still disabled and no fake hang/SOD encountered

First time I boot up it show the SOD problem. After restart no SOD problem.

I untick the Optimaze Display and do restart, it got bug. Stuck at black screen like Andrewtst mentioned. Waiting and later it show out Xperia word.

510 is okay but I don't like the fake hang issue. Now flashing back to 475 biggrin.gif and rooting using vroot
*
my unit doesn't have the issue...hmm...tried reproducing it but nothing...now i'm looking for what I've done that made my unit got the firmware fine to help u all resolve yours

QUOTE(tkhengong @ Aug 31 2013, 10:14 AM)
I upgraded the firmware through the Sony PC Companion and no issues whatsoever. Everything seems to work as intended so far. I also noted voice calls are more solid now.

I have been facing this issue when making calls from the XZU. From my experience with my Galaxy Note II, S2, HTC One, iPHONE and Lumia, the screen is turned off and disabled until the call is ended. While the screen on the XZU is turned off (goes black) it is not disabled. When your ear touch the screen, it will trigger the "Notification" panel to open and what ever quick access feature your ear touches, will either deactivate or activate it; depending on your original settings. Any faces this and any solution to overcome this without the need to get a Bluetooth ear piece?
*
the screen is actually disabled but the proximity sensor is not..due to large nature of the phone, you'll get occasional display activation due to proximity sensor "lost" you. best is to use an earpiece device like i do (i rarely make or take calls, however)

QUOTE(hansc @ Aug 31 2013, 11:19 AM)
hi guys,

i am hvg this issue with my XZU... got the device earlier this week, and last nite tried to insert a 8GB micro SD card into it... however, nothing seems to happen.. .tried to restart the phone and nothing happened as well...
