Thank you.

I don't really expect swiftkey to have any issue as it has been working  fine on every phone that i have used.
*
My concern was whether the width of the phone may be a little too much for standard SwiftKey app thus needing to purchase the tablet version instead

I console myself my place no LTE and probably only in another 2 years time
However if the price is good I might consider upgrading to it
*
Typical marketing ploy when they said they can't confirm when the lte version will be available then. Obviously, they want to go one up on HTC one max and note3.

Uncle, seems like the xzu is worthy of keeping judging by your statement. Would also appreciate your thoughts on how it compares to the LG Optimus G Pro

just info sharing.

Singapore will accept pre-orders for XZU LTE sets from 23rd August onwards at S$1038 with free SBH-52 and Case.

Set will be released on September.

Purple sets 2 weeks later than black white sets
*
If Sony Malaysia gives the same deal, I'm sold! Purple set please, for that extra bling. Then again, I'll be using a case to cover it. Hmmm....

Edit| at sgd1038, that's nearly RM 2700. That's really pushing it

6.3 vs 6.44 sweat.gif
what's the difference?
*
Seems like quite a number of XZU sellers in garage sales cite its size as the main reason for selling, after short ownerships of a few days to a couple of weeks

Looks like there's an acceptance curve for the general public.

I bought it from my uncle for RM2299. He has a friend in Sony. I'm happy to report that it's using the new smoother Sony interface and now has PlayStation Mobile included.

What about the SBH 52 headset? Included or extra add ons?

Engadget 19Aug review titled : Sony Xperia Z Ultra review: the best phone you'll probably never buy
WRAPUP :
Just like we saw with the Samsung Galaxy Mega, your decision to purchase the Xperia Z Ultra depends mostly on its size. The Z Ultra doesn't offer any unique traits that would make people want to deal with its massive frame if they don't want to, and the price is going to scare off shoppers who are on the fence. For those dead-set on a larger smartphone, however, this is definitely the best 6-plus-inch device you can buy. Sony designed a sleek and good-looking handset with a few tablet tendencies, and you'll absolutely love the display and over-the-top processing power contained within its chassis. Without a doubt, its size and price are the two most critical factors, and you've probably already made up your mind without even using it. In short, your decision to buy (or not buy) the Z Ultra should be a quick one: you'll either love it or hate it, but you won't stay neutral for long.

So true, The size really makes you either to love it or hate it. How I wish it was 6in and that would have been perfect for me. On the one hand, I was looking for a mini tablet replacement and boy, aren't we getting close to one.

Since everything happens in sept, the launch of LTE version, honami and note3, I'll decide by then. But, if I'm getting this, the SBH 52 headset is a must

It is a sin to fully encase such a beautiful phone. I'll definitely get a nice aluminum bumper instead to show off its beautiful curves

Someone posted about dx-box selling such. Here's a few that caught my eye. Any group buys?

Anyone with links to Sony Malaysia able to update on the indicative prices and package available for the LTE unit?

If not, I'll probably grab one when in SG early sept

How about ram usage?
*
Chrome beta is no longer a ram hog after the recent updates. Smooth and it comes with data compression too to reduce and maximise your bandwidth consumption, especially those on less than 1gb monthly quota. Other browsers offer this feature but chrome is really useful considering its tight integration with google services for example, I can be researching on my next tour in Australia and on my google now in other devices, its able to suggest further info on the searched terms.

Also, it remembers those searches that when I actually land in Australia, it gives me info like traffic updates, distance etc

Super!!!!

So it's better than normal Chrome ?
*
Been using chrome beta for a long time. Only difference I notice is that beta version has data compression capability while regular flavor don't.

As for tight integration with google services, any chrome browser on any OS works for example, I was researching for my trip to macau last time on my chrome iPad, when I switch on google now on my nexus 4, there were card suggestions on where I can further research the topic.

When I landed in macau, open google now, it was able to remember the landmarks I searched for based on my location and gave me distance and traffic info and more about the site, including bus or mrt routes to it (if any)

Google is simply amazing. If there is one and only one reason to get android, its got to be Google Now

Hi guys

My ram left 100-200mb previously which explains the desktop lag. Could it be because of i played asphalt 7 and real racing?

Now after . Clean up ram and I'm left with 800-900mb..
Good enough?
*
That's the problem with non-nexus phones. The phone manufacturers load so much crap bloatware that they become RAM hogs. Was at a Sony center to fiddle around the XZU and dissapointed to say that screen transitions have started to lag a little already, while my nexus 4 still performs beautifully with easily 100 apps in the drawer.

The nexus 4 really is a superb phone. Been keeping it since it was launched on play store while I sold off the HTC one after a day of use.

Unlike iOS, android is still maturing hence the many updates to make the user experience more palatable and if the phone manufacturers are slow to react to it, the core framework is not optimized fully hence the increasingly poor user experience with time.

Android 4.3 is really very smooth and seamless, and makes the overall user experience a joy. RAM management is very efficient too. No need for any ram cleaner apps since 4.2

Reading about increasing negative feedback makes me want to reconsider the purchase of the XZU unless Sony is more efficient in rolling out android updates compared to the commercially focused, Samsung, HTC or LG. are they?

May probably just hold out for a Nexus 5 instead.

I like your simple answer. biggrin.gif the solution is apparent. Why waste time think too much.. Or get iPhone instead, no need to get headache with Android.. But it makes me wonder why iOS user always bother to sneak into Android forum and complain this and that, and praising iOS is better.. If it is really better, why bother think about Android? Means that, something in iOS that did not satisfy u.. U are craving for more, looking for alternatives other than iPhone.. brows.gif

Obviously, some people use English only on special occasions hence the badly misconstrued understanding of the context and intention of the posting.

Nobody is even comparing to the iOS but purely speaking from a users viewpoint of android's fragmented shortcomings.

The XZU would have been my upgrade from nexus 4 but was simply dissapointed that the display sets at Sony already showing slightly laggy transitions. It's liveable but as one user here said, its noticeable comparatively too.

Just because I'm in an XZU thread, I'm not entitled to offer constructive criticisms? Grow up, guys!
