I am using windows XP n has never any problems using fastboot n adb commands. Intact windows XP is still the best if you want to handle adb commands manually
*
uncle like i said my computer handle my note 2 without problem, but with xzu can't detect the device id. hence i can't do the root. i tried updating the usb driver as well but it says i have the latest driver for xzu

IMHO, handwriting on this Xperia is just a gimmick and totally sucks. Otherwise great as a media consumption device.
*
handwriting wise better smash the xzu on the wall... a real frustrating experience on the xzu.

Which SOD  you mean?  The SOD people talk about is cannot wake up after locked the screen. Turning off fixed it for me and a lot people at XDA and gfan.

If you mean stuck at black screen during switch on the phone,  that one is another bugs, just wait a while and the phone will later continue boot in.
*
Ts I have both the bugs...

after flashing back to 475 i really miss 510 x-reality and snappiness, so i proceeded in giving 510 another chance

after flashing 510 immediately got sod issues, so i took andrewtst advice by repairing my phone through sony update service.

Voila, 510 running without issues now, touch wood. still monitoring the situation

also without turning of optimized backlight~! rclxms.gif

this issue used to happen when i was using Xperia SP that I meddled with some of the system apps before updating. to be safe, revert all changes you made to the system app before updating with pc companion i guess...that explains a lot on why the repair is necessary
*
yeah

it is working 100% now. no bugs at all rclxms.gif

After I install all the apps, I face once SOD when optimized backlight tick. So I un-tick already, till now ok... except tat stupid stuck during boot-up still there.

The optimized backlight I do prefer off as it actually deem more the brightness, so is ok for me to off.

Now the only issue is that stuck during boot-up.
*
after you repair ur phone the bootup no stuck at all. no sod issues at all. try it rclxms.gif

I also repair before, but using PC Companion. At beginning I never stuck and this and that.

But after I install all apps I want (I download from play store, not from backup restore) I face that two issue lo.
*
try using the update service. it'll download a 755mb firmware file and repair your phone with it.

I believe PC Companion and Update Service is same.

I never use any FTF before.

Step I did

  • Root using vRoot at .475 firmware.
  • Change CDA at build.prop to Taiwan base.
  • Connect to PC, PC Companion prompt new firmware found.
  • Update via PC Companion to .510
  • Repair my phone via PC Companion to beginning as flash.
  • Didn't do any root after that.
  • Everything run perfectly fine.... until.................... after a long install this and that............ when I switch on the phone from off - that faking stuck appear.

*
mine is like this

stock 475
use flashtool and flash generic taiwan 510
sod appear
use update service to repair phone
stable 510

now im tempted to root using the method uncle benny posted, but scared my phone cant be rooted using vroot 1.6 because having problem with adb using this computer of mine. might need to switch machine before dare to proceed.
