Hi guys,

I just finished my Bachelor's degree and have a few months of rest (4 months+) before I'll decide what to do next.
During this time I want to learn to play the Violin.

I have basic music knowledge (played the organ back when I was young) and is able to read music notation, but know nothing about playing the Violin. Never touched one either.

Does anyone know of any private tutors around Sunway Pyramid?

What are some of the things that I should know about Violin or playing the Violin in general? e.g. what brand / model of a Violin is suitable for a beginner etc. etc.

If I'm not taking private lessons, would online courses like violinlab.com or fiddlerman.com be adequete?

Yeah the thing is I'm not sure how effective it is to learn through websites compared to a trainer :|

I am not sure how was it learning online.

But I feel that some of the techniques like bowing, it's better to learn VIA tutor.

It require some determination for you to be really good in violin. - It sounds awful sometimes when you start learning.
And I like learning in a group of 4 or 5 person as we can always communicate and play together to improve.
That's what I feel of coz.... biggrin.gif

I'm a violinist. I'm still learning though. For me, violin etudes books and youtube help me a lot. You should give it a try too.

But its always good to have friends who can teach you a thing or two. All the best smile.gif

While it's great to get extra tips from online videos, and self-practice via books and etude after etude, you'll want to invest the time and money in training with a good teacher to get your basics right. If you allow bad playing habits to form, it becomes infinitely harder to break them later on. Things like arm/finger positioning, stance, bow grip, etc, need to be handled carefully by someone who can watch and correct you.
