hi, just back from Perhentian...

3 days 5 dives - Matahari Divers at Long Beach - reasonably professional and friendly

D' Lagoon / Tokong Laut / Sugar Wreck / Sail Rock / Terumbu Tiga

Viz - moderate to low, 5 - 10 metres; i'd think we'd see a lot more stuff if this was better

Current - okay

No pics cos forgot camera cry.gif

Saw all the usual suspects - giant grouper; bamboo sharks; huge pufferfish esp at wreck and T3; hawksbill turtles; cleaner wrasse which bit me, i must've been dirty cos didnt shower yet har har

Nights on long beach - noisy with partying left and right. It's nice sitting on beach watching the night sky sipping juice and listening to reggae.

It's supposedly whale shark season so enquire about this and you might get lucky!

i spent the paST fifteen minutes of my life scrolling through the flaming and arguing.. aiyahh... why la that fella waste ppl time like that. this is a positive happy-happy divers group maaaaa... that's what you call 'kicking up a storm' at the sandy bottom!

cant wait for my next trip to Mabul / Sipadan again in Nov.. happy times coming.. hope it works out.

last trip to Perhentian during Hari Raya - low viz, decent relaxing dives, crowded restaurants (two hours for food to arrive!), crazy food prices. Enough of that place i think. At least Long Beach.

Need advice on bringing my scuba diving fins on a flight.

Can I fit them into my cabin baggage or do u guys normally get the sport equipment baggage? In this case I will be on a airasia flight.

Thanks

u can hold em in your hand and carry them on, should be no issue.

or, do like me, measure fin length, go buy luggage bag. no prob with the sports equipment clause on air asia.

where can i can do open water level and cheap..

Scuba Diving is not a 'cheap' sport. be warned. And since your LIFE is on the line, you dont want CHEAP, you want GOOD. cos... ppl die during scuba. even during OW course as in the Tioman case recently. so, weigh these factors before you buy cheaply but poorly.

be prepared to spend at least 1,500 for the whole experience... it's wonderful.

noisy polluting DSD and snorkellers stepping on corals and harrassing the wildlife. i'd rather not. the eco-system of the Semporna region will change for the worse, and then Mabul/Sipadan will be no more.

sea water itself is pretty good for clearing up the nose. someone said to just pour it into nose and everything will come out. they sell purified sea water in pharmacy for blocked nose.
