QUOTE(zeone @ Aug 11 2013, 09:53 AM) Hi Everybody!! Last time i used Total Quartz 9000 5W30 for 4 bottles until my local workshop stop carrying that brand. So far not bad compare to the oil i used. Better than Shell and Petronas FS EO. Anyway it is SN API (i know it has nothing to do with protection and performance), as long as i confident with this brand, why not?Hi Bro... Yup, saw this also on offer @local Tesco here up North...lots & lots...1 mountain high!! Also @RM139... Hv yu used it b4? |

Guys, wanna ask is it necessary to change water pump when change timing belt?
For next service i will go Proton buy the parts such as timing belt, auxiliary belt, gasket rocker cover and water pump if needed, then go to find workshop outside for cheaper labour cost. Based on the part and price list, these few parts will cost around RM460+. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Aug 18 2013, 10:23 PM) personally i change because the water pump for most proton cars aren't cheap however labor to open up your timing belt (which includes disassembling the water pump) can cost almost a brand new gmb original water pump itself. Ya, the water pump alone is RM220. I also heard most of the ppl will change water pump as well during service timing belt, just wonder whether the water pump can last until 2nd timing belt change or not... "might as well" right? |

Just did my 99k major service. After long time service at bawah pokok, this time i choose to go back Proton SC. I believe Proton SC can handle timing belt change better than outside (Outside even got SC dun know BLM got 2 belts
Item change: 1. timing belt kit (Include timing belt, 3 oil seal, timing belt cover seal and tensioner) RM323 2. auxiliary belt RM69.5 3. gasket rocker cover RM48.25 4. water pump kit (gasket and pump assy) RM220.56 5. Radiator flush RM31 Total material cost RM706, labour cost RM196, total RM902 A thing to highlight, gasket rocker cover + labour just RM65, not as expensive as someone posted recently (>RM100) To zeone Just forget ur DIY timing belt cover, in order to remove the cover, you need to dismantle the engine mounting at driver side (at the timing belt cover side), after remove u need to jack up the engine to prevent it from slanting, i will not post a photo here as i'm sure this is over ur DIY capability already.
