I also wonder why they never named it Preve hatch, or Preve sports back or something. Changed to some brand that sounds like a loaf of bread or some canned product. It even could be a sub brand of some engine oil or petrol. Suprimak kau.

naming the car properly is the first good marketing step, in my opinion proton kinda fail in naming their car, suprima for a c-segment? that just seems inappropriate.

it still sounds stupid to me even with Toyota or Honda infront of it ... yup but you see that the mirage or colt or lance is continued even the model is updated. Do we see Proton doing that ? i only see Proton keep changing the names with new model updates, no legacy or what ever. I think the management should follow Mazda, no need headache with names. Use Proton 1, Proton 2, Proton 3, easier for their brain to digest.

Korean Brands in whole are even newer than Proton down the history line, we cant basically expect Proton to go backward once again. They have been stagnant for a decade, in a goodwill i trully wished Proton to excel with at least solid model namings.

Just like when we hear of 5 series, we would know which car is that. That is what legacy namings does, if they keep on changing names then i am not sure when will they be able to establish a strong presence internationally.

Proton only qualified to be call as assembler at that time. Not until they have their own RnD unit, which Mitsubishi tak berapa suka.
Only in 2010 they start making car from scratch.

well if you like Proton coming up new names for each car models then so be it. I prefer legacy names, Saga and Satria is running on the legacy name and i dont see why other models can do that. Wrong pricing strategy, later might end up like inspira giving huge discount to clear stock. Better if Proton can provide more variant and let customer to choose base on their needs and budget.

Proton now following the Kia/Hyundai model of the early 2000s. Give tons of stuff with extended warranty. Kia/Hyundai have moved on to directly fighting car makes for same market share. 5 years warranty is good enough for me. If problems cannot be fixed within first 3 years, then there is an inherent design flaw, so give 20 years also cannot fix.

The only thing left is to wait for the reviews. Especially the driving characteristics. Engine noise, sluggishness, pickup voiced by those with the CFE variant. If all cured, then I don't see any logic reason why would you buy the standard CFE over the HB model (unless you really need the boot space and hate the HB rear looks). Wait for the sedan goes through it's midlife facelift, then the sedan can be seen on par with the HB. What you see in the HB Premium, will cross over to the Sedan + whatever faults they find on the HB during its midlife facelift. Preve facelift 2014?

Its not about patriotic or what, new trend of car buyers now tend to choose more value for money cars. Safety features and gadgets really attract new generations car buyers. Honda and toyota (malaysia distributor not global) still live in their own fantasy, same with their fans with old mindsets

There will still be many die hard fans out there insist the old engine with 4 speed gearbox in new vios is still better than others such as comparing to 6 speed. So camry 2.0 with 4 speed should be better than 6 speed camry 2.5 in their mindset if follow thier logic...
