I just came back from Proton showroom at Ampang Waterfront.

I haven't test drive yet because test driving is only allowed on weekend. Everybody know how busy Jalan Ampang right? So can't comment.

Here is a bit of my car background.

-Been driving for 5 years, no accident involving other person

-Been driving Saga FLX, Mercedes C-class W203, Mazda3, Toyota Hilux, Perodua MyVi, Proton Wira, Proton Iswara

-Have molest Honda Civic FB and Fiat Ulysse

I will break my first impression into few categories

Design Exterior: The rear design doesn't look half bad! Really it is a nice looking car, I do comment about the rear light look too small and doesn't wrap the fender enough from the photos. But in real life the light look balance, not too big not too small. Very balance and smart. But yeah, the light itself need more drama to really stand out. the light guide could be a "C" rather than an "L" and the reflector inside the light could be position at the rear diffuser. The diffuser look "empty" to me. Overall i can say Suprima is not a photogenic car.

Design Interior: Not bad, my first though when I know the garnish is that yucky white is rather yucky, but when I see in real life, its look "smart". Its glossy for drama and the pattern look smart, not the best choice. The material fit and finish is surprisingly  good. On par with Mazda 3 and definitely above Honda Civic. The seat, steering wheel and the gear lever is SO FREAKING GOOD!!!. When I hold the steering wheel and the gear lever, the soft perforated leather is so orgasmic. It is so soft and melt perfectly into your hand! heaven and earth nicer to hold compared to Preve plastic steering wheel. The leather seat is better than Mazda3 and Civic and on par with Mercedes. The Mercedes leather seat is firmer but Suprima just cushion better. Haven't test drive so can't comment on the bolstering. The plastic feels textured and smooth just like Mazda 3 and Civic. All materials feels solid and well screwed, aligned nicely and the vinyl soft plastic can be found on top of the dashboard, the top of the door panel and the door panel insert, but nowhere to be found at the rear door. the texture look interesting, Proton do like to use texture that is different from the industry standard and its firmer than Mazda3 soft plastic meanwhile Civic soft plastic can only be found on top  of the door panel. The hatch boot are covered, no bare metal, but the carpet feels like been steamrolled and glued over. Not brushy and wooly as I expected. Here is other criticism, the garnish gap is too wide, look like you can slot a 20 cent inside there and I can see my shoe through the steering column! Why can't Proton put some cloth insert to cover the gap? If the fit is not what I describe, wonky or loose unlike the testdrive model f*ck your SA until it is fixed or don't pickup your car.

Comfort and Practicality: As I said above the leather is so comfortable! The perforated leather feels smoother than Mercedes leather, but Mercedes feels thicker. I'm 5'10", When I adjust the driver seat to my position, there is still a lot of room at the back seat. I can definitely slide my feet under the front see to stretch out. There are 6 hook inside the cabin but I forgot to count all the cupholder. There are 2 at the front and 2 inside the rear passenger centre-seat armrest. The rear hatch dash can be remove for a squarer load bay and the seat can be fold flat! Thoughtful for a first timer. but nowhere to be store inside the car when it is removed. other than that, the steering wheels is not telescopic

So bravo for Proton for doing a good fucking job!!!!

So basher, you can criticize whatever you want but not the fit and finishes, comfort and practicality.
