Why is everyone mad? It's just a name... Cerato came out of nowhere but no one's complaining.

Cerato is ok coz it's a new car although Cerato nameplate isn't new. The new Cerato got both sedan & hatchback which both maintain the Cerato nameplate.

It would take a while for people to get used to the Suprima name while they calling it Preve hatchback. Same goes with Gen2 & Persona when most people at the time still calling it Gen2 sedan before comfortably calling its actual name Persona as we do today. The new name would stick eventually.

thought oversea also using Cerato this name too?
K3 is unofficial name, it look more like product model number only...
just like K5 (model no) = Optima (model name)...

Kia K name is official but differs with other country due to either its impossibruuuuu!!!!to pronounce, the name has been licensed by other company, sexual or offensive euphemism or joke (K9 = anjing in English speaking countries but coming from Kia, this would lead racist joke on Korean still eating dogs, MR2 = Shit in France due to phonetic pronounciation which sounded like Merde = MRDeux & etc...)

proton dah habis nama melayu ke sampai pakai nama2 luar??

persona = personality
preve = predict
suprima = supreme

hmm.gif

I'm thinking they chose the name Suprima as a double entendre.

Like you said Preve = predict which derive from Spanish.

Suprima = supreme, make sense, but it means "remove" in Spanish.

I was wondering if that serves as a middle finger to Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin & they can't abruptly cancel the development halfway for the hatchback version like they cancelled all Lotus future projects.

Maybe I'm thinking too much.

Prevé means "To prove" (as in, to prove that Proton can). This is Proton's definition for this name.

Well it's double entendre then.
