Everything seems the same, except new gear knob design, and different color trims in steering and dashboard.
Bigger HU screen, seems to be the same as Thai/Indo unit.

QUOTE(mystvearn @ Aug 14 2013, 06:12 PM) I thought someone mentioned 7" HU unit with android capability? Maybe this is not the high spec model. Or maybe the paddle shift is not visible from this angle.Steering no paddle shift? Maybe this is the midrange unit as dash looks plain to me. Also notice there are no more chrome trims at the buttons next to the LCD screen. |

QUOTE(petrofsky77 @ Aug 14 2013, 09:00 PM) The interior still looks dull to me. I was hoping that Proton read all the negative bashes on Preve the last time and improve on this one, but sigh ... same old same old ... let's just hope the engine is a bit better ... should have come out with the Petronas engine already duhhhh ... we need 2.0 NA + manual!!! Petronas engine is not ready for global emission requirement. Proton is repositioning their engine ever since they acquired petronas engine. Probably no 2.0 variant since it is overlapped with campro CFE 1.6 that deliver equivalent performance. The focusing the turbocharged 1.8 and 2.2 engine. They actually listen to the feedback, else how come they change the name from Preve to Suprima. All the bashers keep on bashing the name Preve. Later change to suprima also kena bashed kiri kanan. |

QUOTE(overfloe @ Aug 15 2013, 08:23 AM) Sorry folks.. the exterior (especially rear) already looks dated even before launch. Define dated. BMW, Mercedes, Honda still use this kind of design.Whoever designed this.. really should do better. Probably the whole design team should consider finding another job. |

QUOTE(psycho1 @ Aug 15 2013, 03:08 PM) If proton wanted make a good number of sales they should offer more variant like how vios did. 80k for this is abit too confident, people will go for ckd jazz or kosong spec vios instead of this. I read somewhere the target sales for this model is only 200 per month. |

I'm thinking of 75k executive and 78k for Premium is the best price. 80k is too much. Even the spec is good, i dont think malaysian is ready for a 80k proton. They need to prove their car is 80k worthy first before charging people 80k.

'Pekerja Proton sendiri cakap jangan beli Proton'.
This kind pekerja proton should the first to leave the company. This type of staff may deliberately sabotage product quality while in production. |

Manual suprima s has been spotted few times. But that car does not make it into the launch event.
Latest rumors saying that the manual version is for export only, and been given to the R3 deparment. |

QUOTE(SithBuster @ Aug 17 2013, 06:09 PM) Just came back from viewing the car at showroom. Leather trim is greyish and looks of poor quality. Fitting not so good and I worry for the wear and tear of the leather in the years to come. Lol. Materials use as compare to what car? Vios? City?Alot of hard plastics used especially for dash and car doors. They ruin the car for me in terms of the materials used. Design was ok, but the quality of the materials used is questionable. ![]() |

QUOTE(SithBuster @ Aug 17 2013, 07:26 PM) Yeah, its not that solid, feels very cheap. And when you slam the door shut, u can feel the quality until where already LOL. The overall design is good, but the minor details kills the car. LOL the epic door test again. Should be. The leather feel, color and fitting sucks. Definitely won't look good after several years of wear and tear. NCAP should include door close test to determine the car is solid or not. |

QUOTE(giovanni @ Aug 17 2013, 09:31 PM) If you care to read it properly, you will know that there is such a thing called subsidies/rebates which is enjoyed by our national carmakers for their so called R&D work. Essentially they pay less excise duty. Furthermore, non-national carmakers priced their cars higher in Malaysia market to garner the premium feel which adds to the relatively higher prices. No such thing as rebates through RnD. There is such thing as RnD grant been given to proton. ~The grant is 200million per year. The rebates the article referring to is before 2005, where proton/perodua did get tax rebate 50% in excise duty. Because of this, our goverment have been punish due to infringement of AFTA. Need to pay fine to thai/indo. After 2005, proton no longer receive any tax rebate. In terms of excise rate, proton get the lowest rate due to engine is locally produce. The lowest rate is 65% if im not mistaken. Other car markers is 75% for 1.6liter engine. If CKD the rate is as close as Proton. Nissan Almera is high on local content, that is why it is cheap. If you saying RnD grant is protectionsm, it is a normal practice around the world. RnD grant is given to any local company that do extensive RnD. Not only Proton. And 200 million is not a lot. Ford, holden get more RnD grant from AU government. In terms of tax, Proton does not have any advantage, in fact disadvantage. In langkawi, they do not enjoy the excise tax exemption because of custom act does not justify product originate from malaysia to have tax exemption. That is why Proton in langkawi is not that cheap. QUOTE(SithBuster @ Aug 17 2013, 09:46 PM) It is not about the design only. The designer and engineering team need to reach equilibrium level. Most of the time there is always problem at homologation.Maybe few more models, we can see the designer and engineering team can meet the equilibrium point. |

QUOTE(kae7 @ Aug 17 2013, 09:50 PM) Honda is DRB also. That is why we can see Proton now price their car dah macam Honda. DRB punya pricing ada macam problem sikit. Tengok diorang price preve dkt AU, Thai dgn Indon. The price is not competitive at all for a showcase product to improve your brand image. If Proton punya image ok, no problem sell that price. |

QUOTE(giovanni @ Aug 17 2013, 09:54 PM) Actually you just echoed what I said previously. If it's not clear enough, then should I say the grant is given as an R&D incentive which is essentially used to offset the tax. That is how proton can priced its car at its current market prices (which is already not cheap). 200 million is not enough to develop a car from scratch. Perodua myvi cost 220million. That is rebagde. Not much RnD going on. But 220 million.Proton is much cost effective in developing car from scratch. Preve is 300 million. Suprima is 200 million. As i said, RnD grant is normal practice. In fact, if the goverment really sincer in protecting proton, they should give more to Proton. You should imagine how can proton sell at lower price if they do not have economies of scale. All parts for proton is costlier than Toyota. This is why Proton is not cheap, but they trying to make it cheap just for the sake of people asking 'national car price'. So, that is why get a cheap car at the expense of quality. |

You'll be surprise that the actual excise tax collected is not more than 10 percent than what is supposed to be. Profit margin is much higher than excise tax. |
