i sat into one also today during lunch.

The HU, nothing to shout at. the touch feedback is a tad cheapo. feels like china made cheap android tablets. have to apply some pressure to let it sense that i want to drag the menu. System language can be changed but the clock widget on the HU cannot change its language. It's locked to BM, so today's Rabu instead of Wed. lol

I'm sure tech savvy Malaysians will wipe the OS, and put custom rom on it. If not get aftermarket version.

Proton very poor understanding in branding. They should persevere make the "CFE" branding their own, like TSI and Ecoboost, and advertise that it is turbocharged, instead of panicking and revert back to a ahbeng "Turbo" label. Consumers will eventually get the CFE = turbocharged connection.

Same goes for the flip-flop-ing between "Proton R&H" and "Lotus R&H", and changing the Preve name to Suprima.

You'll end up confusing people instead.

This is called, removing DSZ legacy...

Fortunately I don't work in Proton, I can say this. If Lotus R&H, Turbo gone long time, only come back after DSZ is gone, that is the case. SNR3 2011 does not have Lotus R&H. R3 badge enough already to say that is Proton R&H.

On another note, you will see non-core cars which will cater to all the market soon.

based on some info i got. they slap turbo rather than cfe coz market survey showing that many common malaysia dont notice cfe is turbo engine, but they notice that preve is big n heavy, they skeptical on how 1.6 l engine to haul a big n heavy car. they thought that its the same powerplant that inside persona,gen2, flx se n etc.

turbo word is easier to reach the masses. not all are car enthusiast.

my pov, they still can do it through informing it in ads n etc. but turbo is easier to explain. no need to explain actually, even grandma can understand the word :-)
*
Then just put there, 1.6T for turbo, 1.6, non-turbo. Easy.

TUV was only for the early batches of Savvy, after that no more.
CFE, Preve, Proton R&H etc. were names associated to DSZ's term as MD. Right now it seems as if DRB is working to erase his association with Proton.
*
+1

TUV was made under DSZ to convince people that Savvy was reliable. If not waste of money get someone else to accredit car. I had the Savvy MT pre-facelift. No problem whatsoever.

I have to mention, that this is my hunch anyway. Don't take it as gold standard. sweat.gif

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Aug 24 2013, 07:05 PM)
Went to Proton showroom afternoon just now. Here's my impression(please ignore my stupid grammar) tongue.gif

Before I went inside the showroom, I make sure not to put my hopes too high since it's a Proton car. But when I saw the car, suddenly I felt soo excited about it. Checked every side of the car, went in and out, knock2 here, knock2 there.  tongue.gif

Proton Suprima S Premium okeh:

Exterior:
Although the design of the car is not my taste, but the design is not that bad, in fact the design is really good for a Proton car(I think it's better than dugong Vios). I really like the front grill, the headlamp. The rear looks good too but the rearlamp looks really odd though. Proton could design it better. And this is the first time I've seen a proton car put "Proton" name at the rear of the car. Following Volvo eh? The 17" Aloy rim is stunning. It looks good with the car I tell ya. I really like the car in Blue. Would like to see the car in other colour next time laugh.gif

8/10

Interior:
Here where things get rough. When I went inside the car, the first thing that impressed me was the leather seat. God, its better that what I expected. Been reading someone feedback here about the leather seat where it is better than Civic Hybrid, so I had to check it out. I think it's better than my mom ol' Honda Accord and my friend's Honda Civic. I couldn't say that it feels good like Merc, but nearly the level of BMW leather seat(well, that's what I think. Tumpang my boss BMW car before  laugh.gif ).  The DASHBOARD is better than Preve, though the layout seems bored, what I hate is the colour of the dashboard. Would prefer a darker dashboard. On the steering wheel, when you grip, hold it, it feels good. The button control, volume control button(whatever people call it) isn't nice to press, you need to press it hard and there's no 'click' sounds but i think it's still bearable though for daily use. The push to start button is there, I think it's locate the same place like the Preve.

At the passenger seats, I'm 168cm tall and there's enough legroom and headroom for me. The leather seats is nice like on the front seats. Didn't face so much problem when seating on the back. The headrest is adjustable. And you will notice a small icon below shows the seat is also design for infant car seats. There's also a port for car charger.  nod.gif

Didn't manage to try the GPS navigation as the salesman says the battery were OFF. Couldn't even open the boot to check out the space...Too bad sad.gif

7.5/10

That Honda Accord part. Correct. Driving 2.0. Suprima steering wheel, seats better than the fabric standard seats.

When I saw the car, the key was not there, but I could open the boot. Maybe they disconnected the battery? If the boot opening is not mechanical, then this may be the case. I can see why it is done - to cut cost. Cheaper put electronic remote anyway. Same like it is cheaper to put electronic power steering anyway.

Also, if the boot remote is electronic, proton should change the button from standard mechanical "pull" button to just push button. That way you don't get people trying to yank it open forcefully. A shallow button, like the dash will do. People will understand that.

Some relevant piece on the Suprima S which i agree. Too many mysians just dont get satisfied with anything from Proton, despite the Suprima S is not a bad car wink.gif

I am satisfied. Seats, steering better than the Accord 2.0. While the materials in the Accord are generally better than Suprima/Preve. It is quite a barren car.
No GPS/Nav,
Only 2 airbags
No push start
Accord rims only 16"
Has less safety features.

This Suprima will only appeal to those who like all the features. Some pakcik/makcik 50+ only want a D segment car to get from point A-B and who don't care about tech or even if they did know, have no idea how to operate it.

If this is as quiet as the Accord at 130km, I'm sold. Are there SA that allow 130km high speed cruising test drive?

Suprima S, lower variant is not considered a value buy. You get a lot for the price difference.

On another note, DRL's have not been proven to lower accident rate. The results are insignificant. There is a benefit, but not there. Also, in Malaysia, where there is sunlight almost all the time, DRL makes no sense really. When every car has DRL, people will be complacent and accidents will still happen. Then who knows what other gizmo is invented to attract the driver.
