S'up, I'm new to this game too, it wasn't hard to grasp the basic. MMORPG can be overwhelming when you first step into it. It helps when you have experience with other MMORPG games, but if this is your first time venturing into one, then it's really overwhelming as not only you are learning WoW, you're learning the basic of RPG and MMOs.

There are no tutorial mini-game in MMO, unlike single player games. You'll have to start a new character, and learn as you go along. As you start a new character, there will be messages showing up on screen, these are the tutorial you'll get. They explain what is what, and you go ahead and try them out. When you just start your new character, your first task is to talk to to a NPC person with an icon above his head. The game tool tip will explain to you how to get a task, known as quest, and this task will require you to kill several monsters. Here you learn how to attack, and how to loot items from a monster after you killed it. You'll learn that you gain experience point which will level up your character. As you level up, you'll see new skills available, and you try them out, see what they do, and learn how to use it in combat.

These are all the basic of RPG. Just follow the quest and move from one to another. As others have mention, you should also download a manual from Blizzard account page. It's actually a strategy guide, so it's comprehensive. Keep it aside as a supplementary material. Don't worry about reading the guide from page 1, otherwise you'll get overwhelm by the information thrown at you before you even kill your first monster. If this is your first experience with RPG games, don't worry about what character you use. This is your first learning character. Once you are able to comprehend the basic game mechanics, then you can start thinking about the more advance stuff.

Don't be afraid to make mistake, if you are curious about something, try it out. Play the game to learn. Use the guide only when you need to find some information. This is a video game, not a classroom exam. wink.gif

Social is a major aspect in MMO games like this one. You'll come across other players, don't be afraid to talk to others and ask. If you need offline help, go to Blizzard's official forum, they have a section for newbie and you'll find more helpful players there who are not condescending.

Just like any online community, there will always be good players, bad players, and ugly players. Don't let the negative players discourage you. For every unhelpful condescending player you come across, there are helpful ones too.
