The following day, i brought it to apple centre (MidValley), the technician there opened my keyboard, i didnt know why he wanna open my keyboard, and he plugged out my battery, and he pressed (if i am not mistaken) apple + ctrl + shift + power button for five seconds.. later he replaced the battery, wa-la~~ my iBook respawned.. the technician told me that it was the power management unit (PMU)'s problem.. then most probably was the battery on the mother weakened? and he said, if i wanna replace, it's impossible!! because the battery is welded together with the mother board of my iBook firmly.. (something like that.. not too sure already), later on, i took back my iBook, and never shut down.. until i few days ago (actually a week ago), i bought my external drive, if you guys know my previous thread that i have posted it.. because i have the problem writting on my external drive using apple, so, i formatted my external drive by using my apple into FAT format, now i can use the external hard disk on my apple and windows, thanks to those dai gor's suggestions
so, yesterday i quickly backup my files on apple, who knows, at the middle of transferring the file, again, 'pop', shut down unproperly.. i tried the technician's advice.. nothing hapened.
so, after reading my story, so i hope you can get a little background on whats happening on my iBook G3..
my questions:
1. is it the battery on the mother board cannot be replaced?
just like our PC desktop ones, just change the battery only instead.. but why apple welded it so firmly, and doesnt want us to change it. if this is a fact, then if the battery really 'died', then which mean my iBook, the whole laptop, is going to grave as well?
2. i hope the 'replacement of logic board' for my batch hasnt ended, if this is true, is it possible after i changing the whole logic board my iBook will once again 'respawn'? because quite pity to change a new laptop, i like my apple so much!!
3. is it possible to change a new motherboard? i heard quite expensive, not worth it at all. if it is true, then i really need to dump my iBook?
sorry to post such long thread, but hope you guys can help me out of this.. i still dont want to change my laptop at this moment, if really happen, then i think i will switch back to windows instead, i never think of why such a battery matter, apple didnt even think of? .. no $$
