hmm sifus there 1 noob question here, anyone got idea how to spray to get like matt-black? because i prefer my cpu to have same texture as my speakers. its not "matt" until u can feel rough, but kinda black paint on plastic without the gloss, just that this is on cpu. can use those aerosol black spray paint from shoppingcomplex?

If u have skill, just using spray paint RM6-9 enoguh and make mirror finish or just send car paint workshop and ask them if can paint casing for u. If u don't have skill for paint later u will get pain. laugh.gif

Yea, just normal spray also sufficient for nice mirror finish. Wht's more important is ur skills & surrounding condition (not too windy etc)

Just one contribution on undercoat & sandpaper here. (working in the paint industry)
Why do you really need an undercoat?
- is to save the cost of finish coat. Finish coat are generally more expensive than undercoats?
Why do you sand?
To get the dirt/loose particles of and improve adhesion of the paint to the surface.

If the base colour is dark eg. black and you want to paint it white its tough/expensive as you need many coats of white. Therefore its better to remove the old paint. Get it? It the surface its smooth its hard for the paint to stick on.

Well there is lots of misinterpration of the use of sandpaper. It is use to to have a better adhesion thats all. If your previous paint can provide good adhesion and has good adhesion on the surface itself- no point sanding.

The part we are scared of is the base paint does not stick well the finish paint will also come out. Or the base paint does not provide good adhesion to the finish paint.

so i would like to ask: basically what do we need to prepare to get the best spray-painting experience and achieve the best results?

i know that we need sand paper, but how many do we need? there's a few type as well: 200, 300...

of course besides that, we need the colour spray paint of our choice, other than that i've been getting many versions of spray painting techniques like you need a primer or undercoat and a finishing coat as well for optimum painting results...

so sifus here may explain to me more?

i think sand paper 1000 will ok coz when u use 200 or 300 it will scratch the metal...i think u just need to send paper the clear coat only...

Get the finest one 1000 wil do lightly sand it ij you think your surface is too smooth. If your surface is rough, clean it with a damp cloth and you can spray straight away. Please make sure there is no dirt on the surface.
Anything can be an undercoat or finish coat. read my previous posts. They are not technques but just mere reccomendations for better longer lasting results smile.gif

Just remember 2 coats is better than one. You can either go for 1 thick coat for spray to save time or 2 coats for durability (you need the leave the coat to dry for at least 2-3hours) for the second coat.

Yeap, clear coat spray are inexpensive and easy to use. One thing i do not like about clear spray is that it goes yellowish very fast and it is not very durable. I am trying an industrial grade colourless coat which people use for floors with UV protection. Hope to get some good results. rclxms.gif

Use 1000 grit sandpaper first then continue with 1500 grit sandpaper

proper sanding is done by sanding the case with soap water. it is to clean up the dirt or oil on your casing.

if u want to do a flat black paint job, i sugget getting Anchor® brand flat black, this is a heavy duty flat black can spray.

spray a thin layer 1st, let it dry. then do a 2nd coat & do a multiple layer for a better result, but remember to leat each coat to dry 1st...

then it is DONE...u'll get a durable heavy duty paint job for your case...
