Poppy seed or known locally by its Turkish name khaskhas, as the name suggest is the seed of the poppy plant. It is usually used in curry and European, Indian, Jewish cuisines. That means our Malaysian favourite nasi kandar probably has poppy seed in them.
I remember last time there is a big hoohaa about this because it is claimed to make people addicted to the curry by some "Dr." but I never heard if poppy seed was banned or not.
So is it legal in Malaysia? I know it is banned in SG due to the morphine content.
Is poppy seed legal in Malaysia?, Remember big hoohaa last time.
