Anyway don't forgot maybe Dragon and his army might involve too. Hmm with Oda style and how unpredictable it can be. I'm not surprise the actual fight (rescue ops) might be another 6 months down the road.

I remember Ace is just one of whitebeard captain and there are plenty of captain in his ship.

Whitebeard is previously rival to Roger thus they the marine know what to expect. They are doing what need to be done but I think they fear no one but Dragon and his army. They are the only one that could topple the government.
