First off the note 3 is the first phone with 3gb and it isn't even available yet so how can you comment about the ui?

300ms isn't going to kill you is it?
*
judging by the current s4 touchwiz UI.. that said, if note 3 uses the same UI as the s4. then its the same thing. correct me if im wrong . thanks

yeah touchwiz ui is bloated but we the joy of android is that we can throw touchwiz out of the bin and use other launchers. anyways even stock touchwiz we can tweak and trim it's fat.
*
yeah thats true.

i personally think that nowadays deciding on buying an android device with respect to pure hardware performance is just too main stream.

its not just the performance , UI plays an important role .

without smooth UI.. whatever highest end performance put into the phone. the results is still going to be sucks

Since you give a specific example I will give you a specific answer.

S3 and note2 have the same tw version. There is some occasional lag on s3 but nothing major. Note 2 has no lag.

S4 has reported lags but you're not going to die from it right? Note3 is expected to do away with those issues.
*
you want example is it ..

try compare HTC one UI and samsung S4 UI.

better performance on S4, but UI better on HTC one (even though HTC skin is very heavy on resources)

Man....stock ui is just a ui....just coz windowx 8.x locks you in to metro doesn't mean you are locked in in Android.
*
yeah thats true..

what i meant was if you want to buy an android device. you would choose a smooth UI/phone or a bit laggy UI/phone out of the box?

I will choose hardware with more ROM so that any problem also can be fixed  thumbup.gif
*
hahahahah...

hopefully those developers at XDA.. can come out more ROMs for these phones (samsung, HTC) something like those for nexus devices

S4 UI can be trim & make it faster & smooth by turn off window animation, transition & animator duration scale...
*
all android phones also can do that la .

To me, screw the stock ui. I look at specs. I don't know how to use TW as it only lasts 5 mins after a reset or even when I get a new device. I have 5 androids and they are all running Nova. I do not remember how each different devices' stock ui looks like or behaves.
*
that for you ma ... ok la... i have no other comments for you

but to those out there looking for new phone...

judging just purely on hardware isnt the only key in buy phones

So what the problem of lag you are talking here.. when you already know how to settle & fix the laggy...
*
nvm... tell you , you also dont understand. hard to explain

you can comparing HTC sense UI and Samsung Touchwiz. then you will know

i believe even on touchwiz is plenty good for the average users, but for me personally, when buying a phone i look at specs. and yeah all my devices are on nova for extreme smoothness.
*
yeah i know...

i personally think if everyone is going for the pure android look and feel, then whats the point of developing touchwiz and sense UI?

we are comparing the smoothness of stock UI which utilize the hardware. not comparing just hardware.

You are missing out on the point of why Android is a great platform.

Choice is the keyword. Like = use, dont like = replace.
*
yes i know ...

and you are missing out the whole point of my statement.

if you said choice.. dont like change..

then i can those cheap cheap phone and tweak it to be as smooth as the s4. right?

haiyo, later people say only Samsung need more RAM due to TW  icon_question.gif
*
thats the point...

finally someone understand english.

the whole point of a new android phone is smoothness , if you cant get the smoothness right, then no matter how m many GB (3/4/8/16GB) of ram you put into a phone, the result will be the same (laggy).

touchwiz/ senseui anot is not up to us to decide. its the manufacturer's choice to have their own software input into the phone.
*
not up to use to decide?

we all buy the phone to use. manufacture produce the phone for us to use, NOT FOR MANUFACTURE THEMSELF TO USE

it comes to a question, do we really need 3gb RAM? is it just a waste of resources? for user, having more is always good.. but for manufacturer, being smart, being conservative while it still can.. how if next flagship come with 5gb RAM, do we need that much? for me, 1gb RAM boooo.. but 3gb, i don't mind, because 2gb is still abundant…So far i never been in a situation that my 2gb RAM is fully utilized, so why 3gb? just for the sake of fancy spec sheet? its like a Proton Wira with big spoiler, does it really need that? tongue.gif  laugh.gif but anyway i'm dunno engineering stuffs, maybe the current/incoming Android needed 3gb RAM. or maybe TW is so heavy that it needed 3gb RAM while other UI running fine on 2gb..
*
thats the point. do we really need 3gb? i dont use all 2GB of ram on my htc one.

personally think that samsung needs it due to its features and smoothness

someone said that the TW can we tweak to get smoothness.

that said, then my HTC one also can tweak to give even more smoothness.

Why can't Samsung fan boys accept the fact that TW is not smooth enough.

There are people talking about TW laggy
