Congrats and kudos again for Samsung to make the phone totally of plastic again. Superb material and god knows my how many years old S2 still look like the day i took it out of the box cos its plastic. Also its damn light so i can use it continuously while holding it without tiring my arms.

QUOTE(Noobi3 @ Sep 5 2013, 09:43 AM) Dont get fool by the battery size if that's your only concern . Bigger battery doesnt mean it's better . My OGP doesn't last as long as my Note2 and its 3140mah . By right , it should last as good as a Note2 judging from the battery size + screen size unless FHD takes up so much juice . Another comparison , SGS3 with 3000mah extended battery from Samsung SOT is just above half of Note2 SOT for the same usage . 100mah of battery size should compensate of the 0.7" of screen size difference yet it doesn't . Wait for the actual unit to be tested , i never trust manufacturer claims for battery life since like most product , they always do anything to optimize it to the max . Yes i agree that bigger battery is not always better. It depends on the technology of the battery manufacturer and how your phone OS can save battery. Samsung for one makes damn good lasting battery and even though the battery size is the same as Note 2 there could be hidden improvement to make it last similarly or longer than note 2. |

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Sep 5 2013, 11:43 AM) FC = incompatible apps / badly coded apps I think note 2 not a good device to compare with, the spec is too high end. restarts / reboots = not RAM issue, mostly its bad codes or modem issues where are you getting your statistics from man i suggest reading note 2 to get an idea why most of this issues happen But there are low end phones that really lag cos not enough ram like my old galaxy ace. |

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Sep 5 2013, 11:47 AM) i mean the problems some users there suffered from modem issues that cause frequent reboots and some installing pirated software too (i suggest those that don't believe go download from internet those pirated stuff and install them all, surely lag) Erm. I reserve my comments on the pirated apps part. that's true... but that's not the case anymore nowadays with phones coming with the usual 2GB ram |

QUOTE(destEX @ Sep 5 2013, 12:15 PM) but if aosp then will lose all the spen and multiview features right? later sure gonna be in dilemma, wanna go aospa/aokp with all their features, per app dpi, HALO or stick with sammy based rom Spen still can pakai just dun have the specific tw apps or multiview which for me i dun even use while on stock rom. You may find similar apps to replace some of them if you use aosp.Plus hey didn't you say before Note series too big for you or was it someone else. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 10 2013, 02:10 PM) More RAM actually affected the overall smoothness. Adding ram is just one of the way. Frankly i would say TW is not fully optimize for smoothness and having 3gb on Note 3 will not guarantee better user experience. That being said, TW got lots of really useful function to make it up.S III lagging main issue due to it not enough RAM, and keep closing background task to let the phone still work in proper, and badly it can even close the main thing - touchwiz launcher. When RAM is too little to handle everything, how you tweak also useless. Those custom ROM can run more proper as basically most is trim down the whole ROM thus less things run in background, this in-fact is not the real solution. If buy a phone, I want it fully utilize whatever given by the manufacturer, not a trim down edition. Thus, adding more RAM in-fact is the better way. |

QUOTE(un_id @ Sep 10 2013, 02:15 PM) it comes to a question, do we really need 3gb RAM? is it just a waste of resources? for user, having more is always good.. but for manufacturer, being smart, being conservative while it still can.. how if next flagship come with 5gb RAM, do we need that much? for me, 1gb RAM boooo.. but 3gb, i don't mind, because 2gb is still abundant…So far i never been in a situation that my 2gb RAM is fully utilized, so why 3gb? just for the sake of fancy spec sheet? its like a Proton Wira with big spoiler, does it really need that? Well samsung gives it so we just take it. Not like we have a choice. Who knows, with all the new functions they are adding maybe they need more ram, or they just want the RAM capacity to match the Note series running number. |

Fact is. Android OS itself is very optimise for smoothness. Anyone using aosp rom before will know. Its TW itself that's not smooth cos it have alot more functions than plain android. Frankly i dun think its even related to RAM. It's the TW framework itself. My note 2 is only using 0.8/2 GB ram and it's not even smooth as aosp using the same amount of ram.
And there is no reason to debate on why samsung is giving 3gb. They are and there is nothing we can do about it so just take it. They have their reason either its a neccesity or just to help sales its up to them. And i dun see the more RAM helping in any game. I would say atm, cpu speed is more of the limiting factor rather than ram when running very high intense game. |

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Sep 10 2013, 02:33 PM) i think this is it Good point. I hope joytest reference that our phones are like computers dun drag someone else here. AOSP on note 2 is smoother and could also be due to the fact that the ROM is a slim slim 150-160 mb. TW ranges from 500+ (for the slim builds) to a full GB for those feature filled ones. hence i think that it would take that fraction of a second longer to "read" all the files during usage. hence the drag. RAM is good, but i think, storage is even the better. swapping out to an SSD did wonders for my mac back then. the difference in loading speed is night and day. i torrent on it, and usage as per normal but no major lags or spinning balls. hence i believe the latest eMMC chips that are faster would also do wonders together with the extra 50% of RAM compared to its peers. |
