As now sound insulation for DIY-er is cheaper but there is plenty of choise. Which is better? Btw, some people recommened me fiber glass type sound insulation, isn't better? How about the alike insuflex foam with adhesive?

sound insulation parts are never cheap. there's many cheap 1 coming out for the sake of lower price..but for the effectiveness, it;s also at the second or third rank....

if u had done a cheap 1 and u wan to upgrade later, you will need to spend triple the time to remove the previous material...

From my experience, bitumen works very well if you want to deaden body panels.

But for sound insulation wise, i used insulflex.
It does reduce road and engine noise to an extent, its definitely noticably quieter but not reli that much lar

I have both bitumen and insulflex on my front doors, it reli made the doors much more solid and the sound from the woofers so much sharper.

Insulflex do not absorb the sound, it only block the sound/divert the sound.

Insulflex is meant to contain the heat, not an ideal sound absorption material.

BUT, noise is subjective. smile.gif

Some people dont log in forums everyday.Sometimes once a week or once in few weeks.

If want cheap, can use the bitumen strip which people normally use for roof.Seen some cars with it and the user are satisfied for the budget they spend.

Hi Everyone, thanks for answer.

Thanks for let me know the use of bitumen and foam, now i got the idea.
Went to some senior workshop repair car last week and discuss this issue with them, they say cheapest way is to find those painting shop spray the bitumen on the floor, perhaps 2 layers it work well. But they claim now susah cari workshop that willing to do so cause dirty jobs. =P

Btw, would like to try combo bitumen with foam and try the effect. The exhaust sound, engine rev sound and road noise was really annoying, would like the enhance the comfortable while driving cause mostly i drive long distance like KL->JB

Yes, not many shops doing it but there are still plenty. Don't ask me, I don't know. smile.gif

Actually you can get the spray from hardware store such as ACE or kedai tepi jalan. Those bitumen come in spray can or paint can. DIY it yourself and let it cures properly before start using the car again, as the thing smells too.

I guess this is the cheapest way to dampen your car, and lower the noise inside cabin. Good Luck~ smile.gif

I would normally suggest don't do your back until you have done your front.

I don't comment on what "others" have said. But for me,

Front, definitely.

Rear, depend.

That's why normally shop will advice you to do front door first, because that's where you get a feel of what soundproofing is.

For your case, please do it nicely and enjoy your nice speakers.

How about Dynamat? Hows its effectiveness for door? Just 1 layer is it enough?
