QUOTE(Desert Punk @ Oct 9 2013, 02:07 PM) But i don't want that long list of yours lol... bro, may i know where u get ur VS & GC ?For the firestorm and the spark plugs, there's definitely some slight improvement when it comes to acceleration, you could say it feels much lighter and smoother now. Didn't see any difference when it comes to FC though. TBH, i saw a lot more improvement when i got the VS and GC installed compared to the spark plugs and firestorm. |

QUOTE(lingleeyen @ Oct 10 2013, 10:51 AM) TLDR WARNING!!!! may i know how much is ur qmax AB?What I have written can be confusing as I have parts/ accessories linked to the car and I have to feel the Alternator Booster (AB) in total package. This review is done with my current VS + GC (by erictioh in LYN), Potent Booster and K&N drop in filter. I drive at constant acceleration, no floor the metal habit. I drive fast. Daily journey is 40km through and flow with about 8 - 10 km traffic jam (the mix of slow moving and start stop). I have done 3 full tanks of fuel, bit more than 1500km. I have been driving the car with QMAX Alternator Booster installed for 3 weeks now (install 1 month). There is one positive cable, which is linked from the alternator to the positive terminal of the battery. This comes with 3 GC in the set. Immediate effect after I get in the car is that the AC is colder and sound coming out from the speaker is crispier. I have the similar effect after installation of VS, but these effect is on top of it, an upgrade. I still have my VS and GC in the car. Light brightness I cannot judge because I changed all my bulbs on the same day. All this, in order not be misjudged as placebo effect, I have drove the car and repeatedly doing the same for 3 weeks time. AC AC is definitely colder across the whole outdoor temperature from 26 degC to 34 degC. I put on 23 degC and fan level at 2 all this while as default. In the morning (8 - 9am) when the outdoor temperature is 26 degC to 28 degC, it feels just OK. In the afternoon (12 - 3pm) at 32 to 34 degC, this setting is not that cold to my liking and I have to turn down to 22 degC some of the time (minority). Evening and night (6 - 10pm) the setting is OK when the outdoor temperature is at 30 or 31 degC with less or no sunshine. I would want it to be colder. There is somehow a huge difference in feeling between my 22 degC and 23 degC. 22 degC is like another world. After installing AB, I am running on 24 degC with fan level 1 in the morning. Afternoon with 23 degC with fan speed 2 and I get cold hands (because air directed to face, passing through hands). At night I sometimes run on 23 degC sometimes 24. So I have not touched any of the 22 degC unless I have full load in the car in the hot afternoon (outdoor temperature 32 - 34 degC or more). In short, my 23 degC now feels and acts like 22 degC. I like my 23 degC much better now. Sound I have been listening to the same Phantom of the Opera album for a very long time since 2006. Not the first version from Sarah Brightman. The Gerald Butler movie version. When I was playing it in my Saga, there is alot of missing words. You know how you can sing but you don't really know the full lyrics? As if they are mumbling when they are not? After I transferred the album to Forte, I start to hear alot of words that I did not manage to hear before this, but still there are parts that is not really clear with words. Like the name Raoul is soft low tone, I hear it as Ral in before the booster. After the AB, I hear Raoul clearly. Call me exaggerating but suddenly I can hear those words clearer. Well, Can I hear all of them? Some part still not really. I blame the speakers. The player + speaker I have at home let me hear all the notes. Plus, normally I turn to level 7 of volume when I am driving, regardless of speed. Now it is at level 6. Bass? I do not really observe a stronger bass. Acceleration Now it comes to the serious business of why this shall be installed in the first place. I have installed Potent Booster. Potent Booster gives me a big kick during 0 km/h to move. I drive daily with sport mode level 9 (HA9), the most sensitive level in this mode. There is another Racing Mode (FA) with even higher sensitivity. From the first drive till now, I felt that there is no 'WOW' effect by AB in starting from 0 km/h, like what PB is giving when you first install it. The AB improves abit I would say a mere 5% or less on sensitivity on top of PB setting HA9. Hence this improvement at 0 km/h to move is not really the reason why I should add this. The improvement that I observed is the acceleration push that it provides from 1.5k RPM at gear 1 and onwards. The car feels like more wanting to run. The acceleration is more solid. Before this, whenever I try to accelerate hard, there is always a feeling of emptiness under the pedal. Now it feels that there is always more under your leg. You feel that the needle goes up for a reason and you are actually the one stepping on it. I enjoy seeing how the car come to speed now. Plus, even with PB (without AB), the effect of PB seem to be lost after the speed of 110km/h. Stepping on more will make it feel like in stock mode. With AB, it makes me feel like I can push further more. Sensitivity of PB is not there after 110km/h but something is always there for you to step on. It can go on and on at a faster rate. I liked how it felt. It also improves the ability of the car to get up back to speed after you have brake hard during high speed chase. The car will maintain the gear at gear 6 at 100km/h even if you brake from 150km/h. Before this, whenever I brake, it feels like forever before I can catch up again if I don't step extra hard on pedal. It feels like you are going up hill at gear 6 and you see cars in front start dropping gears while you are not. Now, it feels much easier to go back up to speed without needing to step extra hard, or drop a gear. But it still feels better if you drop 2 gears on paddle shift. I like how it works if you are on higher speed, slower car brakes in front, you brake to their speed, they accelerate earlier than you, but you can still catch. If you ask what would be the effect to put this on stock car without PB. I am sorry to say but I have not test enough without PB. I do not have 'data' on the acceleration push, nor the ability to get back up to speed. But I have tried to move the car from 0. Frankly speaking, the sensitivity cannot be compared to what PB is giving. I would say that the sensitivity increases by 10% or a bit more at stock mode. I am sorry but due to I got so used to PB, without it makes the car hard to drive and I always switched back to PB before a 5km run. While PB is giving this big initial push, the booster is supplementing the push with continuity. Depending on what you are looking at, select what you want. I do not regret putting this in. The effects are there when you are not really expecting. Just like how come it is so smooth? Oh, I have the booster in, that kind of feeling. Fuel Consumption No significant saving. I still linger between 11.2km/l to 12km/l. I did not try to save, I still speed. I still run on the same route everyday. Battery Life Put on one month only wanna talk about battery life? Ask again after 3 years to see if this stock battery is still functioning good. Supposed to elongate the battery life as the booster is charging battery directly. Battery is always charged and it works more efficiently without needing to drag amperes forcefully when electricity is needed through out the car. Misc I do observe that the idling RPM (at D) is at slight slight slight higher than before. At N and P, the RPM is slight slight slight lower than before. I have also observed that the RPM at 90, 100, 110, 120km/h is slight slight slight lower than before. The exact 2.5k RPM runs a 125km/h. Exact 2k RPM runs a 100km/h. During cold crank start (at P), RPM shoots slight slight slight higher. It still takes 40 seconds to get down to 1k RPM. Before the needle drops at an instance gradually. Now it stays up longer but drops faster. Therefore the time used is still the same. However, it takes additional 10 seconds than before, to get the 'stable' sound in compared to before. Start up noise did not go lower than before. |

QUOTE(Stch @ Oct 15 2013, 11:12 AM) Hi i m new in tis forum. Got my forte 4speedo 2nd hand n overall satisfy with the ride except the tyre noise. Currently using gy eagle f1 really noisy on rough road. Accy shop propose do sound proof at fender quote me rm600 n said can reduce 80% tyre noise. Anybody did tis? Worth to do? Or just change to ps3 tyre can solve? bro, f1 directional 5 or asymmetric?i suggest to check the manufacturing date first. if too old, rubber may harden n cause noise if new rubber n asy, i will go for SP if i were you if directional tread pattern, i think any non-directional pattern will be quieter (matter of how quiet u want) just my 2cent This post has been edited by jeschong: Oct 16 2013, 12:33 PM |

QUOTE(Stch @ Oct 17 2013, 08:11 AM) I check the tyre is d5, thats y noisy. Tyre year 12, still quite new. Wat tyre u recommend for comfort n quiet? Want to get more opinion on 3st, ps3 or mc5 QUOTE(lingleeyen @ Oct 17 2013, 08:29 AM) I am using 3ST. I have sat in Forte with PS3, MC5, CC5, Assy2, C-Drive, Toyo T1R and also stock. I am glad that I chose 3ST. I would still say, hold the horses on which tyre to change to. Drive and see if you like 17". Else downsize to 16". Bro jeschong regretted not downsizing no? yes, i regretted The only downside about 3ST is that the 'longkang' is wide and you will have pebbles stucked in it. That is why whenever I reach home I will check if there is pebbles in there. Pebbles staying in the tyre too long no good. agree with bro ling, drive and see whether u feel the 17" too bumpy for u. decide 16" or 17" first then only choose tyre lor for comfort tyre that i know, Toyo C1S, Conti MC5, GD EfficientGrip, Mich 3ST, Yoko Advan db v551 and GY Asy2 & Yoko CDrive2 should be rounder tyre. Yoko Advan db should be best quiet tyre (before 3ST and Efficientgrip been launched) and Asy2 should be top all rounder tyre all these i read review online and never try before lar.... i think bro ling's experiences is good enough for you anyway, i read some reviews saying that both C1S and MC5 no good in wet and cornering and noisy after some millage (around 8k) * bro ling, i was impressed u have so many frens driving forte with diff tires. good 1 QUOTE(craxors @ Oct 17 2013, 08:44 AM) Noisy but good traction in wet. to me, if got budget, i will opt for asy2 If got chances...I'll opt for asy2. silent than ps3. Claimed by some. EDITED ==> combined 2 replies This post has been edited by jeschong: Oct 17 2013, 10:13 AM |
