Hi guys!

I'm here representing a group of ppl who are trying to form a new Petaling Jaya football club.

The Club is currently running a sponsorship drive to secure funds to hopefully play competitively in the near future.

The Club is actively trying to increase its profile within the PJ community & gauging the level of support for this community oriented club - much like the Evertons, Stokes, Swanseas of the EPL.

Do read more about our vision & mission in this online petition

Pledge your support to Petaling Jaya FC

If you like to see a real FC in your own backyward one day, pledge your support by signing the petition & telling your friends about it.

You can also follow us on Twitter - @PetalingJayaFC, to get quick updates.

Thanks guys!

petaling jaya is a multiracial community.

i hope this fc can reach out to non malays as well so that they can feel how it is to support a club that they can have an ownership.

Thanks everyone who have already signed. Do help get more of your family and friends to jump on the band wagon.

Appreciate if you guys can help share the link on FB or twitter to reach out more audience.

Indeed we will always try to encourage participation from Malaysians as a whole regardless of race, color or ethnicity.

We want to represent PJ, not just a particular group.

Can't give you a definite answer at the moment as it all depends on how much funding and sponsorship we can gather. Hence the drive for your pledge to strengthen our position - support-wise.

We may secure the MPPJ stadium or other FAM-approved venues as long as it is not too far away for PJ.

the petition is very vague, it basically just asks one question. Do you want to support a local community club? The answer will be a resounding yes with a slight hint of no's, regardless of whom you ask.

There are already local community clubs all over, shah alam fc, subang fc, etc. There are also ton's of leagues, albeit now on puasa break.

And also PJ use to have a club with a great history if you actually follow them, but of course, financial issues has destroyed them.

Follow malaysian football and you'll understand why not many corporates want to support a 3rd party team. Corruption, Commitments, Financial, Coaches, Competitions, Politics. Even if your team doesn't have any political plays within, do expect some external politics coming in.

There are ways to help, and if you are willing, i'll be glad to share them with you.

Thank you Bansai

We are aware there are many such clubs in Klang, Shah Alam & a few in Damansara PJ itself.

We prefer not to talk about political hands interfering at the moment but yes it's inevitable but can be controlled & kept to a minimum. The likes of LFC, MUFC etc are definitely not free from 'interventions' but remain professionally run no doubt.

The idea of the club is to have a proper club to represent the city of Petaling Jaya and it is not necessary that we start from ground zero. We have done some preliminary homework & one of the options could be to adopt an existing club and manage it under the name Petaling Jaya FC.

We have also approach corporate clubs to try to get them to adopt the city but they are more concerned about their brand names.

We are also aware of MPPJ FC which is now defunct due to mismanagement as are other clubs like KL Naza, KL Plus & MK Land.

As for sponsorship, it is well known among football fans and football circles that State FAs do not carry out any marketing activities to promote the team and sponsors. That is one strong reason why corporations do not bother. Why give money to football when they don't get anything in return.

We may have zero experience in football but we are fans, consumers & we are corporate employees. We understand what fans expect from clubs and we understand what corporations want out of sponsorship. It is much complicated but just to put it in a simple way.

Eventually once we find our feet or if we do, we will get the right people to handle the football. For now we will continue to source for support & sell our idea.

After all, someone has got to start sometime
