ben,
speaking from xprience, we too face the same thing. when i first got June, my gf's family was happy with it but her mother has some reservation, now she got attached with her. then we got Trump, it was hard to convince her at first, her father was supportive to us. once we brought Trump back and a while later she attached with Trump just bcoz she finds Trump like a small baby. now every b'day event family photo sure take with our two Maltese wink.gif.

WP,
nice meeting u too. but what do u mean by ownerSS ?? with "S" ? em.. !
well see who takes care of Trump ler, tat's y he handsome.. wink.gif like owner like dog. but too bad he very fast shy. hope when he grows older can b a good 'stud' wink.gif
Yeah had video of him with the shoe. real funny and your angel with such hair.. lagi funny. Angel really gentle. did not xpect Mulan was so active.

there're some fancy mix breed in the States which sells pretty high.
such as Multipoo - maltese + poodle
there's one celebraty owns it.

Gred,
if u could afford, perhaps move the poor dog to your house or rent a house. but if u really want to give it away, please be sure with the new owner

andy,
fist of all it's not adviseable to keep dogs or cats / any animals with u in the same room especially when u zz. coz ur immunite system more or less shuts down as u sleep. if u insist to keep in same room, get urself air purifier, ionizer, eg like Sharp plasma, medklinn, amway.. etc etc. dont forget, loving dog is not enough, u need to love ur health so u cld take good care of ur dogs.
just my 2cent

as for toilet training, it would be best that u train ur dog to be comfortable at one area first. meaning just allow him to get used to first floor or ur grd floor. either one is ur selection. once he got use to it ( remember it takes time.. TIME! ) then u can let him free he will know only one spot. as for our maltese, it took longer time to train our male maltese but now he knows very well the place where he needs to do his biz (bare in mind the hse build-up is huge). while training him, he did miss ard and each time my gf n i back home, he sure sets up some traps for us. now he's well trained. and never hit ur dog when u train them.

i've visited some breeder with diff type of breed. i would say i did not like my first maltese breeder, i cld see they did not know much abt dogs and just want to make $$$. my female was dirty when i got her, thx god we saved her and she's a wonderful dog i'm happy that i purchase from WP for my 2nd Maltese, responsible breeder.

btw, andy, cld u share with us or give a lil hint which breeder u visit? at least it cld help us to keep as refrence

andy,
pardon me so late reply. i've been bz working. anyway:
u can keep them in 'their' own room if u have an additional room. however, my gf keeps the male dog with her while the female stays with her dad since she's more alert at night. however, my advise also from our vet n family doc, it is best not to put them together with u when u sleep bcoz ur immune system shuts / rest. anyway if u have no choice of doing so, i just advise to u to keep at least some certain level of protection. never know germs n bacteria. that's just my 2cent. a healty owner makes the dog happy. btw, it's just my advise, there's no such right way or wrong way as long as u dont harm the dog n urself.. it's all up to u mate. dont worry too much abt it

btw, abt u selecting maltese. i agree to WP. look for the dog that has some "click" with u. i'm sorry u have to visit such dirty breeder. it's really sad that ppl dont keep hygine for their pets. if only they could speak..

haha well size is diff to justify unless if the pup comes from toy breed bloodlines. australian or europe / american maltese their size is much bigger. toy breed almost half. it's subjective, some like it small some like it big, here in m'sia i notice ppl like it small.. myself, i would like my maltese in between. my female more to australian size while my boy ard toy size but slightly bigger. perhaps fed with too good neutrition tongue.gif

btw, if u r interested, do visit WP maltese. i blive he has 2 pups available. i want to kidnap the female.. looks cute face.
p/s: WP.. give me tips a.. promting for u

WP,
that's the tiff's new girl in that pic?

andy,
well u can train him that way but as what WP said, env do generate bacteria n keeping them in toilet is not so wise unless u have a big bathroom and it's dry. If i'm in your place, i will not put my dog in the bathroom. what u can do is to put them to the potty area after their meal to poo. u will roughly knows when they're going to pee after sometime with them. let them smell that area and train them. some dog recognize the area by smell and some by the place itself. previously our male dog, my gf kept a potty tray for him in her room, after he has well mastered, we removed it, but he will miss that place, each time he miss we will remind him not to and we clean that area with strong perfume. now he's no longer pee/poo at that area. but bare in mind, dog are smart to take ur attention even if that requires them to get scold from u. so dont give up.. never!
as for gender, well it's subjective, my male kinda pampered and attachedd with my gf. my female is active as if she's a terrie, well disciplined and very protective career . both of them are intelligent. my male i've not seen him marking his territory inside the house when he saw our doberman. when we fist got female dog, she's the one keep 'marking' coz our doberman marked first after seeing her. guess he's jealous of my gf's dad petting her when he got back from work. so dont rule out that dogs do has own characteristic.
