The size of the screen really shines with 1080p.
Smaller screens can't really take advantage of such high resolution.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jul 27 2013, 10:53 PM) The writing using stylus so far I can only use pencil. It doesn't work with my old ballpen n plastic stylus Shucks. ...not like the Note 2 eh?You can only use Sony keyboard n must select write mode n write on the pad. I see no point using it as it is too troublesome to invoke it. You need to write slowly to have accurate capture. I rate it hopeless to me. At first I thought can just write straightaway on any note app without all these constraints |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jul 28 2013, 10:51 AM) Quick update on Screen on time : Started off at 96% and at 47 % battery usage , I recorded 3 hours . So if projected, reaching 6 hours SOT shouldn't be a problem. The 3 hours usage this morning was on browsing, email, RSS newsfeed, ( all on 3G) , taking photos and an hour video playback Looks good despite battery still new. You set to auto brightness ?[attachmentid=3557234] This post has been edited by funguss: Jul 28 2013, 11:01 AM |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Jul 28 2013, 02:36 PM) One thing I'm curious, do you get people staring at you one kind when you answer the phone outside? Ie.. why is that fella holding a brick? Good for people to stare man. Or just no attention coz a lot of larger phones in the market nowadays? It's a new kind of status symbol |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Jul 29 2013, 12:53 AM) Finally found the Xperia Z Ultra unboxing. I believe Sony also rushed the launch of the Z and ZL before they optimised the firmware. Took 2 updates to fix most of their shortcomings and they issued it pretty quickly. The retail unit is preloaded with old interface, old wallpaper, old launcher, not the latest where show in the press! At the end, it even show Bravia Engine 2 instead of X-Reality ... ... It seems Sony is rush on it, hopefully soon new firmware will out with new interface and X-Reality. I just check Sony Hong Kong site where mention new firmware with X-Reality will only be start rolling out from 9/Sept onwards. http://www.sonymobile.com/hk/products/phon...fications/#tabs |

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jul 29 2013, 03:03 PM) well, because they need to come out before Note 3. Else, no one will buy Z ultra. I read from some report that Samsung has about 90% share of the profits from Android products. So that leaves 10% for the many others to share. Most phone come out with half baked firmware. I won't be surprise if they incorporate palm rejection in the next iteration of firmware. Speaking of which, Galaxy Mega launched firmware is awesome. Work awesome right out of box However, I am of the opinion that Sony is making some headway this year and posing a challenge to Samsung's position. |

Sony is doing road show with the XZU as the main attraction at LYP this week.
It's attracting quite a lot of interest from shoppers. This post has been edited by funguss: Aug 5 2013, 02:02 PM |

QUOTE(Fasap @ Aug 5 2013, 02:16 PM) all major samsung launches in KL attract a lot of people. Majority of people still idolize samsung devices. They are indeed good all-rounder devices, performance and function IMHO. Sony has been bumping up their marketing efforts and product line aggressively. Still has some way to catch up with Samsung though as they have occupied the top spot for a long time. Look around the phone retailers and it seems to me that the main brands are Samsung & Sony occupying the top 2 spots while BB and Nokia in distant third and fourth spots. Not many sell HTC too.Just pointing out that even a brand like Sony can now command such crowd. Its worth the mention as how Sony Ericsson branded phones before never had such attraction like now. No worries bro, the beloved Samsung will still be no.1 market leader.. Was sticking on SP at the counter there and 3 person bought XZU, and 2 person XZ.. a lot more were asking for XZU obviously. Anyway, it's good for us consumers that competition is strong on the Samsung and Sony front. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Aug 8 2013, 08:34 PM) Finally I am back hometown, having chances compare with Xperia ZL. There's a big improvement as far as viewing angles are concerned. However, viewing straight on seems to be about the same from the photos. Is that right ?Xperia ZL v/s Xperia Z Ultra - screen & viewing angle comparison ![]() ![]() ![]() |
