There is a monk who loves to spam cyclone until my wizard is killed eventhough the elites have been perma-frozen.

Well, if I can still recall correctly ...no gear can kill elite packs faster and easily other than a 6% cold 30% BvE SoJ featuring SW for monk.

ItemPassive_Unique_Ring_570_x1 - Damage increased by 15% to targets that are slowed or stunned.
This ring definitely has a lot of potential. |

Amitābha, mahaMonk!
My apprentice monk with 2.49aps would like to know if there is an attacks per second breakpoint that needs to be achieved for better Sweeping Winds proc. This post has been edited by MOBAJOBG: Sep 21 2013, 11:56 AM |

Deckard Cain, DeathTh3Cannon, present me, ALeUNe and cowithgun, ...thanks for your kind responses.
After running around VoTA map from P21 to P31 mostly, solo MP10 sessions and occasionally, with a few party members (present me, faheem and Deckard Cain, separately), my own understanding of the monk character class has been revised completely. I've come to realise that in order to ensure survivability, the service of a high fear factor (17.5%) Echoing Fury is fast becoming a necessity unfortunately nonetheless, I'm able to pair it up with a ls and os Won Kim Lau interestingly. Feel free to critique both the active and passive skills of my monk as follow;- Active Skills 1. Fists of Thunder -Thunderclap 2. Dashing Strike -Quicksilver 3. Serenity -Ascension 4. Mantra of Conviction -Overawe 5. Cyclone Strike -Implosion 6. Sweeping Wind -Cyclone Passive Skills 1. Resolve 2. Seize the Initiative 3. Pacifism Gameplay Activate DS -Quicksilver then followed by CS -Implosion and perform SW -Cyclone instantly. FoT -Thunderclap made it so easy to stick with your constantly feared target and don't forget to spam MoC -Overawe, every 3 second. Finally, Serenity -Ascension is hardly ever use except in the most difficult situation. Vital Statistics Monk by the courtesy of Blizzard Entertainment's Battlenet. Monk by the courtesy of d3up. Forgot to mention that my monk will use a main stat, ls and os rare sword called "Horrid Slayer" that belongs to my wizard (which is meant for archon build) in a party game as a replacement to the fearsome Echoing Fury.

NDE - defense With DS & Pacifism in place, you can drop Serenity for Blinding Flash-FITL - Offensive I'll try Exalted Soul since I don't think Resolve is impressive and also, would drop Seize the Initiative for Transcendence to capitalize on the spamming of many high spirit cost skills. I must make it a point to try either Blinding Flash -FiTL or Breath of Heaven -Blazing Wrath as a replacement to Serenity. |

QUOTE(Deckard Cain @ Sep 23 2013, 11:50 AM) Check Invis#2291 by the courtesy of diabloprogress. The main stat, cd & os Spear mainhand and 18.4% fear factor & ls EF offhand combo allows for the establishment of highest sheet dps. Of course, don't underestimate the actual potential of a Won Kim Lau eventhough its sheet dps is much lower. This post has been edited by MOBAJOBG: Sep 23 2013, 12:12 PM |

Feel free to critique both the active and passive skills of my monk's latest build called EFearsomeWKLFist as follow;-
Active Skills 1. Fists of Thunder -Thunderclap 2. Dashing Strike -Quicksilver 3. Breath of Heaven -Infused with Light 4. Mantra of Conviction -Overawe 5. Cyclone Strike -Implosion 6. Sweeping Wind -Cyclone Passive Skills 1. Exalted Soul 2. Seize the Initiative 3. Pacifism Gameplay Activate DS -Quicksilver then followed by SW -Cyclone and perform BoH -IwL instantly. FoT -Thunderclap made it so easy to stick with your constantly feared target to get out of the heavily covered with elemental attack areas and don't forget to spam MoC -Overawe, every 3 second. Finally, reel in your victims by the use of CS -Implosion. Vital Statistics by the courtesy of d3up Summary Weapons = A high fear factor of 17.5% + osRuby Echoing Fury (MH) and ls + osEmerald Won Kim Lau (OH) DPS = 228k EHP = 618k Notes: How to handle RD with 2.9% ls and 352 LoH? Just simply move WKL over to MH and swap in a 34% block + cc StormShield ...insignificant problem is solved! This post has been edited by MOBAJOBG: Sep 25 2013, 01:13 PM |

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Sep 25 2013, 03:18 PM) You are using 1 active skill + 1 passive skill for spirit generation. ALeUNe,IMO, it is not really effective because you can free some skill slots for burst damage skill like WoL or passive like NDE & OWE. (defensive attributes of OWE will help you in coping RD elites). Try replace FoT/Thunderclap with Quickening. It should give you enough spirit generation. With quickening, you should be able to spam your 1xWoL or 2xCyclone Strike every second. But you need to get used to skill like FoT/Quickening as you don't teleport anymore. As you use Cyclone Strike, you don't need to "stick" to the mobs since you pull the mobs to you. Moreover, you're using Dashing Strike, you don't need teleport from FoT/Thunderclap. WoL & Cyclone Strike combo is awesome. For gears, instead of swapping your EF to SS, you might as well get an EF with LS. You need additional LS at current state. You may probably drop LS when you hit 400K DPS (like invis, perhaps). Using SS means you sacrifice a lot of DPS, imo, which is inefficient and unnecessary. Thanks for the skills suggestions, I'll be sure to give WoL a spin. However, Thunderclap is simply incredible with WKL period so that means Breath of Heaven -Infused with Light gets the boot for now. My belief is in for a monk character class has got what it takes to stay alive with ~3% ls and no more. Never let RD affix to convince us to settle for more ls and thus, weaken our tdps . So, that means it's ~3% ls + possibly, 300k dps for WKL ultimately. This post has been edited by MOBAJOBG: Sep 25 2013, 04:54 PM |
