I'm a Director of R&D at SteelSeries and I wanted to confirm that there is indeed a fix coming out for this CPI issue mentioned frequently in the forums.

It took a very long time to reproduce this error. However - we finally figured out the cause. The current SROM from the sensor manufacturer has an issue. We've worked with them to troubleshoot and reproduce the error and they have delivered a fix to us. We are still testing it internally and with our partners before we release it, but it will be part of the SteelSeries Engine 3.2.1 release, as mentioned above. Targeting end of this week to make it public.

We _do_ read these forums all the time, so seeing your issues reported have helped us troubleshoot the issue. As stated in the forum, if you have an issue, always open a ticket. It will get to us in R&D. Thanks to the couple of you that did open tickets.

To clarify some things: yes - the issue was introduced in the firmware update released with SteelSeries Engine 3.1.5. That firmware update contained a new SROM from the sensor manufacturer. The CPI jump issue has to do with code in the SROM of the sensor responding to changing surfaces on lift off/on a surface. For instance, when using a QCK+ pad (which is very thick) if you slide the mouse off to the edge of the pad, the sensor recognizes this as a surface change and it will modify its parameters. In a very small percentage of the time, a bug would cause the small "CPI jump".
I will update the forum when we release SteelSeries Engine 3.2.1.

My experience with Steelseries is quite bad, dont know why  Broke Kinzu v2 within 2 weeks, so exchange with the shop for G400s. Just bought Kana today, and well.... the scroll wheel broke in less than a day 

All and all, I do love Kinzu and Kana shape and find it more comfortable compared to G400s. But my experience haven't been good. At least there's warranty.

H3LLKEEPER, any idea if matte version of Kana/Kana v2 surface is as good as Logitech hydrophobic surface? Got a replacement for kana, but sold it off because my palm were sweating alot due to glossy surface. I'm hook with Kana as it is much easier to flick around for low sensitivity due to it design and lightweight.

Do you claw grip or tip grip? I do suppose when I do FPS and tip grip on rare occasion where small movement is needed.
As for weight, I open up my MX518 and added some big head screws to increase its weight (LOL), so Rival may fits my weight preferences.
I did notice the back (or butt?) logo can be taken off? Is it for weight distribution or just fancy cap?

Edit: Ok, it's just a fancy replaceable cap.

Oh shrug, looks like the paint will wear off much easier than expected, my MX518 side paint become sticky after 1~2 years of use, then I just scrap it off using sand paper and just spray with normal matte paint, not very fancy job but at least does not feels so plasticky without the coating.
Will think another time about buying those mice... 
Most mice nowadays also uses matte coating on the top and side, Rival seems to use rubber grip, a nice touch, but wonder if that's just coating or real rubber piece that won't get sticky after pro-long usage.

Anyone has side by side picture compare for Logitech G400s and Steelseries Rival?
I'm planning a mouse to replace my almost a decade old companion (yes, a decade old) MX518 first gen (yeah, guess that again, FIRST GEN!! 5 little mice feet!) so I heard Rival has some really good sensor and all, but unknown LMB & RMB switches
If anyone is kind enough because here all the store does not have demo unit, all packaging is secured so I can't even compare side by side (reluctant to ask salesperson to do that without buying).
If possible I need to see the height as well, side way view.

Hi guys i got a steelseries sensei. want to ask in order to use button 6 and button 7 do i have to on my steelseries engine ? bcz it takes up 110k kb in my task manager. when i off steelseries engine. i cant use button 6 and 7

Ermm their onboard memory just able to adjust those "ExactSense , Freemove, Exactaccel, DPI..etc" only this type of stuff. bcz i tried manually set it with pressing the dpi  for more than 5 seconds and try to change using the back of the mouse lcd screen. it didnt show button 6 and button7 part.

Does SteelSeries still sell the Frost Blue bundle that has the Sensei, mousepad and Siberia together? I remember they had it before. If so which store has it in Malaysia.

Can I ask, how to change profile on-the-fly using the button under the mouse wheel of steelseries rival ?
