Operator bringing in 200 new buses including 40 double-deckers

A FLEET of 200 new Rapid Penang stage buses, including 40 double-deckers, will be on the streets in the state next year.

Rapid Penang chief operating officer Mej Mohd Shukri Abdul Rahman said 80 buses would be brought in during the fourth quarter of this year while the rest, including the double-deckers, were scheduled to arrive end of next year.

He said currently there are 320 buses, including four used for training purposes here.



“Currently, we have 256 buses plying the route daily. Some of the new buses will be used to ply the new route,” he told reporters during a briefing session on the proposed one-way street system in Pulau Tikus area at Komtar yesterday.
