Typically I hold stocks between 1-3 years.  Not 5-10 years... old already, no teeth cannot eat fruit. 

one concept:
when poor, spend less, invest more and re-invest from the profit to benefit from compound growth.
later when rich, invest less, start spending the money.
if poor still spend a lot, can never become rich.

Ok, talking about transaction fee, min amount must be RM8000 to optimize the cost. (0.1% / RM 8). What I normally do...1)trade with cheap nominee account, 2) For long term keep, buy slowly / collect with nominee account, transfer collections to direct cds every few months just b4 dividend out, just pay RM 20 per counter, can avoid service charge for receiving dividend & also avoid high transaction fees in direct cds.
