Encorp wins RM114mil construction contract

Encorp Bhd said today its unit, Encorp Construction & Infrastructure, had been awarded the main contract to build a business centre worth RM114mil in Cyberjaya.

It said Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd issued the letter of award on July 25th.

Work on the project – which encompasses shops, offices, a car park and other amenities, including a 24 storey building – will commence on Sept 2 this year, with delivery date set 24 months down the road on Sept 2, 2015.

The company said it did not see any exceptional risk in undertaking the project and expected the contract would contribute positively to the earnings of the Encorp Group during the duration of the contract.

Khazanah Nasional buying Turkey health insurer for US$252m

Khazanah Nasional Bhd's insurance holding company Avicennia Capital Sdn Bhd is buying a 90% stake in Turkey's health insurer Acibadem Saglik ve Hayat Sigorta A.S. (Acibadem Sigorta) for US$252mil.

Khazanah said on Monday that Avicennia Capital had inked an agreement to buy the stake from Mehmet Ali Aydinlar and family and The Abraaj Group.

The Malaysian government's strategic investment fund said Acibadem Sigorta is a leading provider of health insurance services for corporate and individual clients in Turkey, and has the second largest market share in the industry.

Acibadem Sigorta's headquarters is in Istanbul and it operates six regional offices across Turkey. Acibadem Sigorta's premium health insurance offering provides its customers with access to a large network of high quality healthcare facilities in Turkey.

The acquisition complemented Avicennia Capital's acquisition of the CIMB Aviva insurance businesses in Malaysia in early 2013.
