Anyone here have the Astro PVR decoder but do not use the dual tuner LNB? I want to take advantage of paying only RM50.00 to get the PVR decoder but I really do not want to change the concealed Astro wiring I have now.

most installers now use SatCR as its cheaper. Rm 180 if not wrong
Stacker destacker cost RM 400++
*
Does that mean only need 1 wire from the dish to the SatCR thing? From Google, a SatCR sure looks like a LNB.

Yea it looks like an extension to a LNB. (my uncle used it)
Worth the one time fee if you have new cables.
Luckily when I installed PVR this year, we used one old conceal cable and one lay outside the house(lorong house)
after a few months the old cable kong. If use SatCR then not worth it lol.
*
Where did you usually put the SatCR device? Near the decoder?

It's an extension of LNB. then one cable connects to it run to your decoder then split the cable into 2.
Then in settings configuration page they set to SatCR.

So this how it works:-

no bro
SatCR installed to the lnb then just split cables. No need any other equiqment
*
So in other words I still need two cables from the LNB?

no... You have SatCR installed to the LNB, then it will have a RG6 cable running all the way to your decoder, then split into two cables without any other extra equipments.
in other words, the SatCR at the LNB is doing all the work.
*
So, the LNB will have to be replaced at least?

My upgrade to Astro PVR decoder RM50.00 comes today, only need to wait 2 weeks. It was the Samsung PVR too which seems to be a little bit faster than the previous Pace decoder.

guys quick one...when replacing the old Pace PVR to Samsung PVR....normally the new samsung remote is given or we have to reuse the remote from PACE?

because the installer didnt give me anything even the manual for the samsung PVR ! hmmmm and ask me to use the old remote

btw i didnt pay anything to get replacement....its FOC....i thought need to pay rm50?
*
I got a new remote (black) when I upgraded from normal Beyond decoder to the PVR version. The installer took the old decoder away but left its grey remote behind which is usable with the PVR decoder somewhat.

BTW, anyone knows if I schedule a recording at 8.00pm on channel 393, and then when someone else tuned to that channel during recording, will the recording be cancelled?

No it will not cancel.
Even when you half way record, you still can start playing the recorded portion.
*
Another thing I have noticed, is if the PVR is recording a TV program in a HD channel, I cannot tune into any SD channels at all. I will get the 'no signal' error message when I tried to do so. Switching channels to other HD channels works. Is this normal?

You will not get HD picture. Unless you are willing to folk out RM2K for that. Wireless connection it will lag a bit when you press the remote control.
Why should your contractor making noise? You pay him wat, right?
My Beyond PVR allow me to tune into any channel when i am recording 1 channel.
But if i record 2 channels at the same time, i can only watch these 2 channels. Not allow to switch to any other channels.
*
Well, I only record one channel that time. Cannot switch to SD channel at all when that happens.

quick question here, one of the astro maintenance guy told my dad that it is recommended not to switch off the astro decoder for some reasons.

i'm using a pvr latest decoder.

i'm just curious, any reason for not switching off the decoder at all? even at night?
*
So that it can do auto update when needed. You should be able to turn it of overnight, but do not turn it off for extended period, like a week or months.
