Just a heads up. If anyone is interested in getting Astro B.yond HD into XBMC, Windows Media Center, Media Portal etc, I'm selling my old kit here.

It's all the hardware you need to do this:

What is the point of this? So slow changing channels!  sad.gif

Short version? Placeshifting. I can watch from any room and any TV around the house. Can also watch from mobile devices or any PCs. Can watch from halfway across the world even if the connection is stable.

It's like the SlingBox, except it's more flexible.

Same PC, except this time it captures with HDMI instead of Component. Also ditched Windows Media Center as backend PVR and clients. Now running DVBLink Server as backend PVR. Clients can be XBMC, DVBLink or any DLNA-capable devices that can decode H.264/MPEG-4 AVC streams.

When I started doing this, Astro didn't have Astro OTG or PVR function yet for B.yond. tongue.gif

does it need a splitter or booster to sent the signal to another TV?
How much is the total?

All IT sells these at just under RM500, you need TWO Cat5e cables though. Remember it has to be separate from your home network.

MK84..., what kind/brand/model  of TV capture card do u use right now..? last time Hauppauge HD-PVR right? That TV Capture Card available in Malaysia..?
*
Yea last time it was the Hauppauge HD-PVR (the one for sale). Now using Hauppauge Colossus and HD-PVR2. AFAIK I have not seen them available locally since Vertex stopped distributing Hauppauge products. I got mine from Amazon.

AjkR06, when you had the Astro Max last time, did they change it to an updated Max set?

Ohh.. nope. It's the same decoder from 2007 until astro 'upgraded' it to byond pvr in 2010. I don't think there are any updated astro max set available since their initial launch in 2006 until they discontinued it at the end of 2008. Byond PVR is the 'rebirth' version of Astro Max laugh.gif

Okay. Apparently there is at least one hardware revision for Astro Max. When I was using it last time Astro decided to change the set out of the blue. No idea what changed. hmm.gif

You do need to connect to the internet to use the search function though.
