I don't think it's normal, because my B.yond decoder shows clock when I put it on standby mode.
Also, the channel number I currently on when I'm watching TV.

*Unless, your decoder is different than mine.

I put it on standby if not watching.

But if everyone leaves the house and there is no one at home, we just turn it off.
