fyi, the new ASTRO epg will be avaliable to astro byond customer in phase nationwide from 24 feb 2014.
Also user might be able to control their astro box via smartphones and tablets soon.

Surprise !!! Mine recording light is on at awkward hours but there is NO recording in library!! Maybe this is Going Beyond! I dare not complain cos I do then they wl be most happy to replace my box and slap another contract !

Correct, they have MTV Live HD. I was referring to Nat Geo Adventure which is soon to be renamed to Nat Geo People. TM has that channel.

Thing is, TM is apparently very happy to fish channels out of Assteruk's dustbin. Channel [V] (both International and Taiwan feed) is now on TM. TVB8 is now on TM. BBC Entertainment (YAY!) is now on TM. So I won't be surprised if FFM and MTV also end up on TM if Assteruk throws them away. Especially FFM, since TM could use a good movie channel right now (and TM already has other Fox and Viacom channels).

I just read about the new astro byond pvr GUI which will be 'flash' to all of byond/byond pvr user regardless whatever kind of decoder generation that they used.

I'm currently using the first generation of astro byond pvr, which is made by Pace (Installed it since July 2010).

With the current GUI, sometime I experienced some kind of not so serious lag and slow responds but I can still bear with it. New interface which looked like pretty 'heavy' and more graphical intensive, I afraid that my decoder will be more slow to responds and yet, it may lag the hell out. Personally I feel kinda afraid to change to the new interface

According to astro FAQ, they stated that once your decoder has been flashed with the new firmware, you simply cannot turn back to the current (old) version. For Samsung pvr user, they may not encounter this kind of problem err maybe because their internal memory and processor far more superior than the old one. I have tested out the new samsung pvr decoder at my aunt house last month, and guess what the decoder responds to the user request at the same time without any lag at all! 

At first I just want to try to change my decoder to the new Samsung one, but Astro said that I need to terminate my current account, and apply for another one. Pay RM200 for the installation and CONTRACT WILL BE EXTEND TO ANOTHER 2 YEARS! SOme more, I need to maintain my monthly subscription for at least RM75/month (I only paid RM52 for my current subscription which is basic family+recording fees)! Sorry.. I did not bother to extend my contract to another 2 years and pay RM200 just for the new decoder. I got myself this byond pvr FOC because they persuade (read as force) me to upgrade to byond pvr since they want to stop all of the services for the astro max decoder user...

are we 'must' change our decoder to samsung one to get all the 'epg' stuff? and how much it cost to upgrade to samsung decoder? im using pvr, thnx

no subscriber can leave astro  easily provided u decide to terminate after 2 yrs ,if u continue some where along the line yr box will fail and u wl  get FOC replacemnt but slapped with 2 yr contract!In my years since 1996  almost 5 boxes failed and I am still in contract! What law is this I wonder!  Failed Justice,Failed nation! 

According to reliable source (guy from another forum who claimed himself as an authorized astro installer), the first batch of subscriber who will receive the new GUI tonight will be for those who are receiving byond service via second batch of PVR receiver with build in wifi (Made by Samsung).

If I'm not mistaken as what I was told by the customer service people, it only applies for those who are still bound with the contract. Let's say, you're still bound with one year of contract when your decoder suddenly got a problem, then it will be extend to another 2 years starting from the date of activation of replacement decoder. Subscriber who already end their contract with astro will not be imposed another 2 years contract when they change the decoder due to faulty reason.  BTW, you can see the sneak peak of new GUI here. Some 'lucky' user already received it since last year...

Force update wl show  auto update and download happens but there is no effect at all

Guys, is it possible to use the supplementary 2nd decoder at another place? Does the 2nd decoder gets exactly everything the same including HD channels?

Anyone compares the video quality between the catch-up series from vod and direct record from satellite?  I find the former video quality is not crystal clear like direct record..

My cousin which also is my neighbor already got this new user interface. His is Samsung decoder while mine us pace decoder force update twice still the same. Kelantan area btw.

There is no update for Assthrow byond basic set.. ie., without PVR HDD at the moment.
That's why it is blank when you tried force-update.

Does it work for Astro IPTV subscriber + Supplementary (uses dish) ?

Guys, quick question. THe old EPG we have the storage option (5, 10, 20 & all), but where can i find it in the new EPG? Was playing around with the new EPG yesterday but cannot find it.

Seems like kelantan area are pretty fast, all of my friends who are using the new samsung pvr decoder already got the new epg update, I'm still stuck with the old one since I'm using the pace pvr. 

I'm using the latest model of Samsung-branded Astro Byond decoder and I have yet to receive the new EPG.

haha i never off the decoder at all 4 many years till the sudden electricity rise...now i always off before going 2 bed time

just got updated automatically 20 minutes ago.. i'm using the pvr decoder that i got when 1st upgraded to Byond PVR from Byond back in 2011.

nice looking n fast n fluid n smooth. liking it.

quick question here, one of the astro maintenance guy told my dad that it is recommended not to switch off the astro decoder for some reasons.

i'm using a pvr latest decoder.

i'm just curious, any reason for not switching off the decoder at all? even at night?

So that it can do auto update when needed. You should be able to turn it of overnight, but do not turn it off for extended period, like a week or months.

guys wana ask .... am gonna shift to a new place and soon to get a new telephone line and was wondering bout astro's broadband service.. is it good and fast at kajang area as compared to unifi? and wats the different between astro hd, demand and iptov? thanks in advance for the feedback

surprisingly after the update... all those ghost recording can be deleted...

What if I dont have recording to do? Plus i think decoders/routers can get really hot over time.

If I not mistaken, mine does not come with build in wifi...it needs an usb wifi dongle. Is it mean is a pace pvr?

astro roll out the update for pvr decoder first?

Just woke up from sleep and as usual i turn on my astro as well. Then auto update suddenly began. So now i'm riding on the new interface. What can i say about the new interface is it really above my initial impression. This new interface seems to responds out as smooth as silk and there's are no lags noticed at all unlike old interface.

Changing the channel also became more smoother than before. It responds to the remote request in real time compared to the previous interface. Unfortunately, since i didn't subscribe for hd service, it means that my interface will not be as clear as those with hd services activated. Perhaps, i should consider to upgrade my subscription from basic family to family hd as well ...

Btw, im using the first gen pvr, made by pace. Staying somewhere in the northern region of perak.

My Pace PVR also has been updated, in Sabah.

But the nasty HD to SD channel change bug is still there where pictures will be distorted and not playing except the sound. In the old UI i just press the home button and the problem is solved but now, i have to restart the decoder.

Update done this morning,from South! So far so good, smooth going.Just did a basic scroll of the UI,quite impressed.

Hi guys, recently i have upgrade my astro decoder (the silver one) with beyond hd (i think they call it zapper  )...

Then i noticed that this new remote also can control volume n power on my LG tv....(wow  )

But my problem is, im using a home theater. So i put the audio cable from decoder direct to my home theater not to my LG tv (same as the old setup)...and then i noticed that i cant control the volume from the decoder...so i change the cable audio from the decoder to my tv and then use my tv audio out put to my home theater...but still, i cant control the volume since the remote only control volume for tv...not my home theater....can anyone help me...does the new decoder can adjust the volume or it just adjust volume from tv....? or, am i doing it wrong...?

Had two older decoder and force update changes nothing. Got a new Samsung too but nothing after standby for an hour.

Gonna leave one of the old one on standby to see if anything happens

New Astro B.yond HD Zapper decoder. Try few days of manual update since 24 Feb 2014 till now, only software update of same firmware. Will keep trying....

Tip for rest who wanna manual update of New Astro B.yond HD Zapper decoder. Press 3 times of start up button at the decoder straight after you switch on the main adapter. You must make sure you switch off and on again before press the start up button. Hope it help.
