CONGRATULATION. MALAYSIA IS THE 2ND EXPENSIVE COUNTRY IN THE REGION TO WATCH WORLD CUP 2014, STANDING TALL BEHIND SINGAPORE. WE'RE TRULY IN THE RIGHT TRACK TO BECOME A HIGH INCOME COUNTRY IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

I'm still wondering why did RTM buy only half out of 64 matches, eventhough they didn't use our tax payers money...? wink.gif

Well, may be the matches were made available on RTM courtesy of Astro. I'm afraid that HyppTV and ABNxcess subscribers will have to watch black screen when World Cup is broadcast on TV1/TV2.

OUT OF ALL HD CHANNELS ON MEASAT, ASTRO ONLY HAS:
1. AXN HD
2. DISCOVERY HD WORLD
3. NAT GEO HD
4. STAR WORLD HD
5. KIX HD
6. HISTORY HD
7. ONE HD
8. SUNDANCE HD
9. SKY NEWS HD

ASTRO & MEASAT ARE SISTER COMPANIES BUT THEY'RE NOT BRINGING THE CHANNELS ON MEASAT PLATFORM TO ASTRO. ANY LOGICAL EXPLANATION FOR THAT?

EXPECT NO NEW CHANNELS UNTIL THE VERY END OF 2014 (IF ANY) BECAUSE:

1. THE BANDWITH & PROMOTION WILL BE CONCENTRATED ON WORLD CUP, COMMONWEATLHS GAMES & OTHER MAJOR SPORTING EVENTS WHICH REQUIRE ADDITIONAL CHANNELS

2. THE LAUNCH OF THE NEW MEASAT IS DELAYED TO SEPTEMBER.

ASTRO STILL ENJOY SPENDING MONEY ON REALITY SHOWS LIKE THIS INSTEAD OF BRINGING NEW INTERNATIONAL CONTENTS & CHANNELS (WELL BOLLY ONE HD IS PRETTY MUCH A HOME COOKED DEAL WITH GUARANTEED REPEATS)

SUN DIRECT IS GOING TO ADD 170 CHANNELS AND 20 HD CHANNELS FROM 6-9 TRANSPONDERS OF MEASAT 3-B. NOT SURE HOW MANY CHANNELS WILL ASTRO ADD BECAUSE MEASAT IS KNOWN FOR LEASING ITS TRANSPONDERS FOR FOREIGN USE INSTEAD OF ITS SISTER COMPANY. THERE ARE CHANNELS WHICH ARE ALREADY IN MEASAT PLATFORM BUT NOWHERE TO BE FOUND IN ASTRO'S LINEUP.

It seems like there is a major breakdown now as most of the channels on Astro lost their transmission. Comments are flooding into Astro FB.

rclxms.gif They've went into hiatus. Our award winning satellite TV provider didn't answer the calls, didn't respond to e-mails, didn't reply to tweets & facebook posts. Monopoly is bad.

Did they lose a MEASAT?

After 3 hours of criticism, ASTRO finally posted an apology on their FB expressing their regret on the issue and promising that they will rectify the issue ASAP. Be calm and our next bill will still show the FULL amount, guys.

THIS IS WHAT STARHUB DID WHEN THEIR SERVICE WAS INTERRUPTED DUE TO FIRE. WILL THAT HAPPEN HERE?

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/starhub-offers-co...-015155176.html

StarHub on Friday unveiled a compensation package for the 35,000 customers who were affected by the service disruption that resulted from the fire at SingTel’s Bukit Panjang Exchange on 9 October.

Under the package, StarHub TV customers will have free viewing of more than 170 channels for one month.

Also, Digital Voice customers will receive one-month subscription waiver, while broadband customers will receive a $10 supermarket voucher.

“We understand the service disruption has inconvenienced our customers. This compensation is a gesture of our appreciation to our customers who have shown a lot of patience and understanding toward us during this challenging period," said Jeannie Ong, StarHub’s chief marketing officer.

SINGTEL ALSO PROVIDED COMPENSATION.

SingTel will compensate its home customers who were left without broadband, phone and pay-TV services for days after a fire broke out at one of its nine key Internet facilities.

Some 60,000 home broadband service customers will get a speed boost for the next three months, the telco told The Straits Times on Monday. This means those on a 200Mbps plan will get bumped up to 300Mpbs for free, for example.

Affected mioTV customers will be given a month's worth of free viewing of all channels, while those who had their fixed voice line and mioVoice disrupted will get one- month's worth of free local calls.

For business customers, the telco said it will be reaching out to them individually to work out compensation packages.

48 hours...how typical of them... doh.gif

Free viewing for 48 hours seems unfair to those who subscribe to premium channels. As expected from Astro, they're reluctant to waive the amount in the bills.
